Day 56 in to flower and harvest is here.

Pics below are:

(2) 20 gal aerotubs with Papaya
About 30 big colas off the 2 tubs. Some over 2'
Bud Shot 1
Bud Shot 2
Home made bud dryer (basic design courtesy of Al B Fuct) with small buds.
2 drywall buckets with trim. 1 bucket with cola leaves and 1 bucket with immature popcorn buds. Both for bubble hash. Will post pics of bubble hash tomorrow in my journal.
+rep, how long to trim?

Most people would say it tastes "funny" because they're not use to smokin weed that has been flushed. It's almost as if they want the fertilizer taste for them to think it's normal. I flushed for 10 days prior to harvest and the smoke is smooooooth and almost tasteless. However....it's pretty damn hard for 2 people to finish 1 joint regardless of how it tastes.

You can't have too many trichs ... The more trichs you have the less you have to smoke to get high :D

Nice job mate, good grow.

3" net pots with RapidRooter plugs surrounded by hydroton expanded clay pellets.

I topped them once in order to get 2 main colas and I trimmed off a few fan leaves during flowering so the light would get to the lower buds.

Can you post some pics of the inside of your aero please?

I rarely use hydro/aero systems - and don't no a shite load bout them (soil grower at heart :P) but...
I'm currently building an aero system (more in the design process right now) and am looking at different setups to see what ideas I can get and what will work for me.

Cheers.

Pictures as requested.

1. (6) 3" net pots in lid. Make sure to cut the hole about 1/4" smaller than the diameter of the pot. If you cut it 1/16" smaller the weight of the plant will push the pot through the lid.

2. 3/4" PVC spray header penetrating the side of the tub for 2 reasons. A. Stability, B. When it comes time to empty the tubs and change nutes I don't like a drain connection which eventually leaks. I turn the pumps off, remove the brass cap, connect a hose and turn the pumps back on. That will empty the tub quickly. The pump is connected with a flexible hose so I can make a quick change if necessary. When the header is spraying (which is 24/7) the spray ought to hit the bottom 1/3rd of the pots so drill your holes in the side of the tub for the spray header accordingly.

3. I put a frame around the tub to support the heavy colas. If you look at the top closely you'll see 2 other holes. The smaller of the two is where my pump power cord and my 1/4" airlines from my air pump enter the tub. The larger of the two is a place where I put a funnel for adding nutes or PH adjustment liquid.

4. Brass hose connection on end of tub for emptying. Blue water level hose so I can see how much water is in the tubs. It's a great way to get a sample of water for testing nute strength too. Once the plants get big the container will become rootbound and dropping your PPM probe inside the tub on top of all the roots will give you incorrect readings. I just bend the hose over and empty a sample in to a cup for measuring PPM/PH. Then I pour it back in the tub through the top hole.

Have you sneeked a taste yet? I read you used carbo load...did you use all AN nutes?
Yep....I've done more than sneaked a taste. It's nice growing hydro and flushing all the junk out before harvest. The only thing I taste is a little sweetness from the carbload.

I use both GH and AN 3 part. They are identical. I switch between the two just to use them up equally. The only other AN products I use are Dr. Hornbys Big Bud and Overdrive. I always use a product called Hygrozyme for the roots which I assume is almost identical to An's Sensizyme.

This is kind of a stupid question about growing hydro but when you have it in a tub like that do you just fill it, then drain it right away? and how do you give them the nutes they need..Im a soil grower at heart and know NOTHING about hydroponics...

Right on...actually hydrozyme has way more enzymes than sensi...my AN supplier said to use it instead...good stuff. ...and so are big bud and overdrive. How did you go about your flush? Just water or did you use a flushing agent. I've got some clearex I think I'm gona use for final flush this grow and am looking for some tips.

The tub is basically 3/4 full all the time. In an aero system the lower part of the roots soak in the nute solution and the upper part (which are hanging in mid air) are constantly being sprayed 24/7. I change solution once a week and I check and adjust the PH every day.
