Overwatering, underwatering or something else?

Hey all. I'm on my first plant and she does not seem too good. She sprouted about 3 days ago. I am not sure what I have done wrong. It had the shell stuck on her until yesterday when I removed it with tweezers so could that be why it is looking like this? Or maybe I am not watering enough or too much? Sorry, I'm all over the place, don't really know what to do. Thanks!

Here are some pics:

Don't water it for a few days.it appears the cotyledons are still folded together from the helmeting and the first set grew outward anyway. It should straighten itself out soon.
Good luck friend! And welcome to RIU!

What medium and lighting are you using?
I am using CFL light bulbs. As for the medium, I don't have a lot of possibilities, unfortunately so I am using some universal soil from the local store.

Not sure if links are allowed, but I am using this:

And in the middle where I planted the seed I took some of it out and replaced it with some soil for seedlings:

I don't know anything about that soil, but I like to fully water any new soil before I transplant. I can see you're only watering the center. I'm guessing that soil is a little harsh for the seedlings. If it was my plant I would water the shit out of the whole pot and suck up the runoff with a shopvac. Good luck and welcome to RIU.

I did water the soil before planting until it started coming out through the bottom, left it some 5-6 hours and then planted the seed. You think I should do that again now?

I'd water the shit out of it if it was me. And drain the runoff. One of the only times I'd recommend flushing, lol.

Can’t even see the plant light shining on it. Where are the starter leaves? Other leaves twisted, do you know ph of water or medium?

What the hell!!! Please help.. My humidity dropped to mid 30’s for a couple of days. Not sure if that caused this.
It's looks ph related, like nutrients are being locked out. How are you feeding them? What's your runoff looking like? High temps with low humidity could also be attributing to the issue also.

You want medium ph around 6. 7.5 not good from my experience

confused for a second 2 threads in one but yeah way to high seedlings 5.8 ph for me

Pressed Post reply by mistake. Turned out actually that the brown spot was a bit of shell still stuck there which held the leaves. Here are pics with how it looks now. You think it looks fine?

Not if the leaves keep going up like that. If they relax then your good

I think your medium probably on the lower end of that 7-7.5 and with 6 ph waterings you might be right near to high. Seems good for now though but something to keep an eye on imo.

Hi guys. Coming back with another query here. I actually have another plant which is 2 days younger than my first plant, which I am growing kind of as a control group is the sense that I am basing its light more on keeping it in the windowsill as much as possible. I noticed today that this second plant started drooping, so I am wondering if that could be caused by the difference in light received?

For comparison, here is my second plant which is drooping:

And here is my original plant, which I hope it's doing good as it is looking better:

In terms of watering and everything else(besides light) both of them have received pretty much the same conditions.

I think I now see signs of drooping in the other plant as well, so maybe this could be overwatering? I gave around 400ml to each plant yesterday after around 4 days without any water.
