Overwatering? Fungi? Nutes? I havent a clue...

Hey guys and gals,

Just having a small issue (currently) with one of my ladies. Currently i have this plant of random strain, and a moby dick thag ive been growing in a 1mx1m tent under a 250w hps amd have just passed their 3rd week of 12/12 lighting. The moby dick looks amazing, however the random strain, whilst growing well still, has started showing some leaf damage. The damaged parts are a dark green to almost gold/brown in the effected areas, and are crispy and roled up. After researching i thought possible cal deficiency, although 3 other plants in the same medium are fine... or possible over watering or fungi infection...

The ladies are in a medium of potting mix, vermiculite and perlite, and receive aact or plan water alternating every 2nd water, amd have biod diesel bloom booster added to both. The watering schedule is normally every 2nd day however its been daily the past few as we have had hotter than normal weather. I normally only water once the top inch of soil is dry.

Cheers mate! The ph of our water is 7, and when the biodiesel is added its supposed to drop ph to 6.9.... i havent actually measured in a while though...

Thanks heaps guys. I have to get new batteries for my ph meter tomorrow then il double check everything... i think either chances are ive overwatered lately, locking it out or maybe my ph is creeping around a bit.

Follow up: When i dug out the ph meter i alsp found our old moisture meter... the plant in question is way wetter than the rest... ill back off the watering shedule for it and see if that helps

I am with Renfro on that - Doesnt look like symtoms of overwatering but letting it dry a bit can only help you yes.

So today i was able to use a mates ph meter to check our water and my Aact brews ph levels. Our water came back at 6.5 and the aact came back at 5.5... the plant however seems not to have worsened since being able to dry out a lot more... i will still get batteries and recalibrate my ph meter to be 100% but currently this is ratger confusing. Still no adverse effects on the buds etc though as far as i can tell. Cheers for your input guys :)

Edit: mates ph meter is fucked, tested today with recalibrated ph meter and the water is 6, and the aact is a spot on 6.8... confused... haha

I agree with the phosphorous. Possibly low PH in the soil or not enough in the mix.
Peat based mediums need lime amended into them to buffer up the 3.5 PH of the peat moss.
Check run off ppm and ph.
6.8 is a bit high for watering ph. Especially if the soil medium PH is really low, the big ph fluctuations from 3.5/4 and 6.8 won't help.

Thanks for the advice guys!

I checked the ph of my run off, it was 5.8 after nuimg watered with tap water at 6.9... i ended up just backing off my feeding with plain water flushes between them and the plant seems to be much happier for it. Fingers crossed thats that sorted. Thanks again for the help legends

Most likely a Ph issue, getting worse by the salt build up.

To me if the water is going in at 6.9 and coming out at 5.8, that's and indicator of the soiling being more acidic then your water.
That's not to say your soil Ph is 5.8, but if the water is coming out more acidic then it's going in then the Ph is being dragged down by your medium and what's in it.
And in my head it would almost work out close to an average.
Ex, A Ph of 5 neutralizes 9.
So I'd guess your soil is around 5-5.2

I believe there's a standard 5:1 ratio method to check the Ph of your medium/soil

Mix 5 parts distilled water to 1 parts soil, shake it up and then strain the water out and measure the Ph of the water.

Thanks mate, my next batch of soil will definitely be receiving some lime to neutralise the ph. Whilst the plants have benefited from me backing off the feed i will have a crack at the 5:1 method and see how i go. Cheers
