Overwatered?

yeah i know... I'm hoping at least 1 or 2 is a female... 3 look different from the other 1 ... so i wouldn't be surprisde with my luck it had nothing to do with it and it was all males.... but ok thanks. I'm hoping just for a little bit to see if I'm heading in the right direction.
Well keep a male and pollinate a female and have more seeds to play with. But my guess is you'll have a couple moms to play with

I got a question.... if I start flowering when the nodes are about an equal length of 3 inches... will I get more vs if I wait? or a crap shoot?

yeah I figured as much. thanks again for all your help. I know no way to tell exactly was just looking if there was a general rule of thumb.. but its ok I will find out. this is more a test run to see how I want to do my next grow. next time I will be buying feminized seeds. I couldn't afford it this time, I only spent $200 total on pots/soils, nutes, and a few other things. I think this will at least make up for that cost. I will keep posting progress for the next person to come along and had the same problems.... If my nodes were to be 3 inches and I switch to flower. will the nodes double in size ? or will they stay the same size and just grow more densely

Are you flowering under just the 200 watt or what is your set up for flower? If you are just under the 200 I'd flower sooner than later. The penetration of cfl is very low so highet will be a major factor. I may suggest you use a scrogg method. That always worked the best when I was experimenting with cfl. If all goes well with that light and your pot size I'd say you should get a oz or two off of each.

I have 200w CFL 6500k on right now... I think I should switch to my other for flowering, but I'm not sure. I have a 125w (I think) 2700k CFL I was going to use. I also have a few small cfls I can use for side lighting. I wanted to start flowering soon as I don't have enough light for them to be huge. once I figured out male/female was going to do some LST so it is nice and low and even canopy so that they get equal light... I'm assuming half are males at least. Also I don't want to top the plants more than 2 or 3 times, I think it is bad for them?

also I know both lights would probably be ideal, but my budget only allows for one big fixture at the moment

I'd do your last top before you switch light and use all that you can. But it should all turn out good. You can get good results from cfl if you can balance the light right for penetration. Good spectrum mix. Go heavy blue to keep stretch low. After the stretch you can switch bulbs or add it instead. That led light I just got was $60 delivered at my door in a week...150 watt. But I definitely know the budget game... I'm on one now lol.

you can get those cheap ones and they actually work good? they were trying to charge 200-500 bucks for a UFO style or slightly bigger at the hydro store ... I know led are cheap so I thought that was outrageous.. I know the cheap ones probably work but I thought it would be at a disadvantage to some extent... but you are saying keep the 200w in and then flower after I top... then once it gets going switch the bulb for the more blue range one? or switch it for when I start to flower?

You want the more blue at start of flower then switch to more red... this light is throwing some power... it started to bleach one of my plants so I'd say so far it was worth the money... the plants have adjusted and seem to love it. It's cheap and from China but almost everything is manufactured to some degree in China. When I get on my computer I'll send ya a link.

There is other good lights on there as well... Led cob full spectrum would be a good search...I use to use this place as a dropshipping biz and never had a single return and im happy with my light so far. Even the plant on the far side has adjusted her leafs to catch the leds light... so it is penetrating to the far side of the grow area so id say it has good penetration.

Awesome I will check that out, id say if plants were bleaching then it would have plenty of power :fire:. I will also take your advice on lighting. Start blue, finish red. Is there a certain point when switching to red is best? like certain signs the plant is showing, pistils - trichromes etc ... also you might have answered already so sorry if I missed it, but is it possible to tell male/female before switching to flowering?

If you do switch instead of supplementing then id say when they stop the stretch week three or so... But i like to grow from start to finish in a heavier blue to red. I try to have as complete of a spectrum as i can. including IR and UV.

Thanks . I will try to keep both. I think I will keep blue for start and supplement with the small 100w cfls that I have around the side and then switch after they stretch a bit. Then I can use this as a baseline. Appreciate all the help! :bigjoint:

Random question of the day... Do males always show signs first on the bottom for pre-flowers? and females on the tops? because a definite 3 of 4 plants, so far, have signs of preflowers on the tops... 2 of 3 being more pointy than seed likes... Is this good indication so far? 4 plant also has signs of pre-flowers starting on top before the bottom.

thanks for link... going by that I know I have 1 male... looks exactly like first pic... then I might have 1 or 2 females... but the pistils look like they are coming in behind the pod or not right at the tip (I found this very odd) and also 3rd is unknown yet still... I need more time but I don't want them to get to big... don't know what to do... don't want to accidental pollinate

also looks like under 60x magnifier to be like little black hairs on some one the pods... not sure if means anything
