Overwatered... now what

First post, and first grow.. Hello all.

So as much as it pains me to say it, I over watered....
I usually have a pretty green thumb, but clearly I messed up here.
My 2 part questions is,
1. how long do I let them dry out before I water again? I watered them this morning just because the dirt literally felt like a brick. But I don't know if I should give them a few days regardless of what the soil feels like?
2. Can I expect the curled down leaves to perk back up? I didn't water them until I felt like they were almost too dry, but the leaves never really came back at all.

I am now watering less frequently, and with much less volume, but I don't know if the appearance should improve or not of the affected leaves. Thanks.

Why are those cups cut? They need enough space for rooting, which an 18oz solo cup provides but I wouldn't go any smaller than that.

Add hydrogen peroxide to seedlings in order to help them dry out faster, it adds oxygen to the water. Water only when the soil dries out three inches down, the cup should also feel lighter.

Perhaps, just wait and see.

You diddnt mention what this brick feeling soil consisted of.
Is it adequate for cloning?

Well I cut them down because they were only full up to that point. One blog I read said leave the soil a few inches from the top so the water won't spill out. I supposed I went a little too low. I cut them down because the air wasn't really blowing across the dirt, and I was trying to dry it out.

Do you have holes in the bottom? You need them to be light when picked up before watering in order to build the roots out, also avoid gnats. I too use a full uncut cup

the soil is 30% perlite, 70% fox farm ocean forest.

I believe they have good drainage. I just think I watered too frequently. I would water when the top inch was dry and the dirt started to shrink away from the sides of the cup,.

I have used ocean Forrest in the past but some claim it could cause problems.
Works for me though plus you got the pearlite.

I just need to know if I should continue to water lightly, and hopefully this problem will go away? Or, like one thought I had, just don't water at all until I see them almost starting to wilt, since I know it'll be totally dried out.

You may want to consider putting into a slightly larger pot to help bring them back and limit any nutes.

You don't water lightly it is ok if the top is dry.. It makes the roots hunt the water, don't worry dad she will keep her roots alive.. Move them back from intense light until you see them reaching for the light

Let them almost completely dry
They need not wilt.

Then totally soak them.
Repeat until transplant

He is using soil with nutes in it
So should add zero nutes for sure

Ok, no one else asked so I guess I will. What is the ph of your water? You have some other issues besides over-watering my friend. Nitrogen deficiency for 1. And depending on the age of these gurlz...perhaps root lock as well...Any roots coming from the drain holes? FFOF should have adequate nutes in it to avoid N deficiency that bad and that early. I would almost be willing to bet my next paycheck on ph issues and nute lock. Take a look here:

My guess is the damage was done while rooting and they will bounce back

Fox Farm Ocean Forest is a "Hot" soil, FF sells Happy Frog for seedlings and clones.
I would get some for your next try.

Well ...yes and no. Just letting them dry out from the over-watering is NOT going to ensure they 'bounce back'. These plants need to be transplanted immediately if not sooner. NO nutes (Zero, Zilch, Nada) should be given for at least 2 weeks after transplant. And the PH must be checked and balanced....of course this is all IMHO...I could be in error and the OP should check the facts and not just take mine or anyone else's opinion and run with it.

I have more time to clarify my thought now
It was admittedly based on assumption but here goes.

I figure he starved them while they rooted.
Then stuffed them in a soil that at least in theory is too hot.
Then over watered them.

I figured the nitrogen def will fix itself now.
The overwatering problem is solved
Whatever damage they incurred as a result of the hot soil they will survive.

Of course I shouldn't just guess
And you are right its good to have other opinions.
