Overdrying buds...good smell??

when hang drying your buds how do you know if they dry too much? I know that if this happens you can add an orange peel to the jar your curing in but i was just wondering what the signs of an overdryed bud are? Also how long does it usually take for the weed to get that good smell back i've been curing some bud for a little over a week now and it still has the hayish smell to it

If you pinch it and it turns to dust its too fucking dry. If you pinch it and it sticks to your fingers but still breaks up without a problem its probably good to go.

Are you opening your jars and turning your buds everyday? The hay smell should go away rather fast if there dried properly.

Yea I open them twice a day for 15-30 min on end. Does the smell come back when the buds are completely dry or should it be back before that?

a buddy of mine always goes with the rule that if the stem snaps then its ready to smoke.... im not exactly how he dries/cures his buds but i know he hang drys for a couple days then jars it.... just like every1 else

So your TWO questions are:
1. When are buds over dry? - When they crumble like a dead leaf
2. How long until the bud loses the hay smell? - My experience is about the 3rd or 4th week of curing.

If you over dry your buds, put a couple of wetter buds in the jar with them, the moisture pretty much distributes evenly with no mouldy orangey taste

question.. what if you were to put a wet (straight off the plant) bud in a jar full of really dry buds? would it dry it out at all?

Moisture is what makes buds smell like hay,if they smell like shit its because they still have alot of moisture in the inner bud.
