Outdoor training advice

Hey guys, I have an unknown strain growing outdoors in a 5 gallon fabric pot. I’ve done lots of topping and fimming. Unsure how many weeks veg I’m in but I started from seed indoors in late May/early June.

I’m doing some low stress training but the main top/tops are stretched way higher than the rest of the canopy. I’m wondering if I should just tie it down as shown in the photos, or top that whole main shoot? I’m aiming for a short bushy plant with an even canopy. I realize I probabaly should have topped it earlier. Our season here in Nova Scotia ends in october. Any tips would be greatly appreciated!

I think your at the stage where that main shoot will have a hard time not being the apical top. Training earlier, along with super croping would of done the trick (captain hindsight here). If you need a bush, I would top off the main shoot to make it even with the rest of the canopy. If you don't need a bush, then just keep with the LST.

Yeah this plant was one I didn’t have room for indoors so I just threw it out in the yard and pretty much hoped for the best. I’ll just leave it go as I don’t neeed a bush, just figured it would be a bit more stealthy what with living on a fairly busy road. Luckily my yard is huge and has a ton of bushes and trees so it shouldn’t be too noticeable. Thanks for the tips! Your plants look great!

You need to get that plant in full light as fast as possible!!! AND BUY POTASSIUM SILICATE ASAP, this will harden the stalks, make them thicker, and protect the plant from pest damage. Once the plants roots have filled the 5 gal pot which will take less than 2 weeks outdoors in full sun then temperature and light are no longer problems. Humidity in veg is even better, it turbocharges growth. Just watch out in late flower because mold can grow if the weather is moist when temperatures drop, unless they stay above 18 at night. A full suite of organic amendments usually protects against fungi and mold though. But I'd hate to see that plant stay that size, cannabis plants dont thrive in shade! No matter the circumstances!

And do not train a plant this close to flower, the plant needs to build its optimal structure to deal with humidity, temperature fluctuations, and produce the best possible yield the plant can. Manipulating it at this time will only decrease yield, if a plant wants to grow tall let it, unless its indoors or in lots of shade, then just move it in the sun before the branches bend. Like i said earlier !potassium silicate! makes a plant so much more tolerable to fuck ups from the grower and the environment the plants growing in. Training is for making a plant grow like an indica usually just for space management or to take many cuttings for clones. It only affects increases yield of done aggressively but early in the plants life.
