Outdoor growing help?

Hello guys this is my first posting so bear with me XD

Im tired of spending big bucks on bud, I want to grow my mown meds!
I tried growing in my closet but i failed over and over again...

I have my patient recommendation and I am thinking of growing in my backyard. There is a lot of sun shine, lots of ample space, and lots of shrubbery, huge trees, etc.

I think it would be a good spot to grow, I want to start off with one plant.

I've been reading and reading for the past years and I've never actually given outdoor growing a shot.

Since I can't turn my closet into a grow room i think this is my only option.

I'm not lucky enough to know any growers in real life :(( lol so I have to rely on what these articles or my books tell me.

Whats the best way to grow outdoors? I want this to be as discreet as it can be.

what are some key tips to growing successfully outdoors?

I want to start off with one plant, just in case their are casualties, lol, and then work my way up

thanks guys :D

select a clear, southern facing piece of land. that is the key! i didnt know this and suffered the consequences last year!
dig a BIG hole. 3x3x3. using a pick-axe makes it easy. (i bought mine at a local flea mkt. for $5 they're also available at lowes, walmart, home depot for around $20)
get some pro-mix, sphagnum peat moss, and some perlite. all 3 can be found at wally world also. usually one bag of peat moss and one bag pro-mix per hole. but it really just depends on how big u actually make the hole. just cover the top of all that w/ a layer of perlite and mix together in the hole. back fill remaining space in hole w/ native soil and mix again.
now plant ur precious baby girl in there, put mulch/leaves/rocks/etc. over the fresh dirt so the sun doesn't dry it out so quickly and it isn't so noticeable to wandering eyes and watch her grow! if it goes more then a week w/o rain, water her (u said it'll be in ur back yard right? maybe plant a small garden near it so you could be watering that when/if the neighbors are watching) ammonium nitrate sprinkled around the outer edge of the hole makes big girls! sprinkling it around the edge of the hole allows it to wash down to the roots when it rains/gets watered. u can buy it at feed stores for approx. $12 bucks for a fifty pound bag. this is like 5 yrs worth for u if your only growing one plant, but at least you'll have plenty if u decide to grow more next time. anyway i made this entireley too long, sorry bout that. hope this helps ya out. if it did, the rep buttons at the bottom of the post. peace. be careful with mulch though, it makes a good habitat for bugs and other little bastards that might go for your plants
start the seeds off by wrapping them in a damp paper towel, put the paper towel in a ziploc bag and stick it in a dark place for a couple of days
when they have popped, you should see a small white root poking out
plant it ROOT SIDE DOWN in a small pot to start off with, a gigantic hole isn't much good for a tiny seedling
just use the tip of your index finger to poke a small hole in the dirt and drop the seed in, and cover it up with more dirt

for the dirt i'd use some quality potting soil, composted soil and a bit of perlite and vermiculite mixed in (you can get these from most gardening stores) and a bit of dolomite lime to even out the soil pH
also i would recommend starting 3-4 seeds and tossing out the others after you have a confirmed female. it would suck if you put all that effort into growing one plant, and it turned out to be a male

if you have a medical card, then by all means use your backyard (keep it discrete and try not to show it to lots of people, that was my mistake!)
try and plant it in a place where it gets a fair bit of sun and wont be shaded by other plants (but make it discreet, e.g. behind a patch of trees or bushes or something)

plant food- there is a ton of organic plant foods out there (blood meal, bone meal, etc). take a trip to your local gardening store and take a look at what they have- you want something with a high N rating for the growth stage (nitrogen is important for veg stage) and something high in P and K (phosphorus and potassium) for flowering.

you shouldnt have to worry too much about micro nutrients, since those are found in the soil

just make sure that if you get a water released plant food, DO NOT OVERWATER YOUR PLANT
the soil needs to be just damp enough , NOT soaking wet. also do not feed the seedlings for the 2-3 weeks, just plain water will do them fine
happy growing!
