Ok, I have 20 plants growing outdoors, I planted them all from clone in the ground in 2x2x2 holes I dug and filled up with happy frog soil, the Bubbas are over 3ft and the rest are over 4ft tall or close... These plants can get as big as 6 foot or 7 foot it looks like, but I can't have them get bigger then 8 foot really .. or the neighbors might complain.. so .. i have :

8 Bubba Kush
8 Gdp
4 Purple Candy

The Bubba Kush look like damn house plants, they are THICK , and very bushy, and shorter then all the rest.. the Purple Candys were already topped when I got them as clones, so im not worried about them, but they are over 4ft tall, and appear to have 4 or 5 main stocks now about 3.5 foot long.. Im just wondering if I should top my outdoor Bubbas or Gdps.. the gdps are all 4 foot tall also or getting close to 4 foot at least.. they are all VEGGING still ofcourse with the time of season.. I live in northern california, so sun comes up at 6:30-7am and stays up til roun 8pm.. we don't usually start seeing bud sites around here until late July or early August and September..

I am too late to top?? I don't really care about Topping but I have been told it makes a YIELD of a difference.. does it? does anyone here top there outdoor plants and when do you do it .. Am i too late.. Im going crazy thinking about Topping or not topping.. HELP!

I think I need some advice from you. I have GDP, Bubba and Blueberry Diesel in my outside garden. But...my girls don't look anything like yours do, I think!
I'm worried that I'm doing everything wrong. What do you use for nutes, watering and any general info you can give me. I would sooo appreciate it.

Ok, i still don't know if i should TOP or NOT.. the GDP are not topped but there looks like alot of tops may be there already but still has the main cola.. the bubbas are so short and bushy .. let me see if i have a pic..

My main concern is ,
1. does topping reduce THC content? and
2. I don't want to top if it's not going to make a big difference.. but I don't want the season to be done and be saying to myself "I shoulda topped ! "
3. but id like alot of tops instead of one cola 3 feet long.. i have topped plants before but Im no expert
4. some people say some strains should be topped and some not.. i have gdp and bubba.. are these recommended for topping? some say bubba should be topped and gdp do not top, ?

here is a picture.. i just need to know if I should top these plants or not.. or whats best .. a picture of my garden is below..

Hey Zig No Zag, The nutes I have been using on my outdoor is Bloom and Grow from Foxfarm and other Blooms from different companies.. I have not been using the same brand, one week ill do foxfarm bloom, next week ill do botanicare bloom maybe, whatever I feel like that day i guess.. i been nute'n once a week. heavy dose... I just been following the indoor foxfarm schedule but just been using the weeks before 12/12 over and over and using different brands, mix up my nutes in a big tupperware thing, it holds 10 gallons, so then i add the nutes in to the 10 gallon mix and test ph and if its between 6 and 6.9 then Its good, once a week for my outdoor, they always seem to grow a few inches immediately a couple days after the bloom nutes. on watering, I water these babies twice a day, ONLY because they can take it, if your plants don't need water, don't water.. I water them in the morning (by leaving the hose in each hole until it fills up) and then by the nightfall they are bone dry again, so I do the same thing, fill the holes up with water.. they love water.. big time.. as soon as I start seeing budsites (im guessing the end of this month or sometime in august) I will start hitting them with some heavyweight builders and some open seasme and some other tricks I have up my sleeve..

Reduce THC content? Lol that cant be a serious question. And yes topping and FIMming does make a big difference. You should do it.

Bro...

You dug really big holes and you started when the season did.

No need to top. Topping and FIMing DOES give you more donkey dick colas but it doesn't necessarily increase yield outdoors. Your yield outdoors has more to do with your large root mass than it does how many extra tops you have. Because you dug big holes and because had a good start, you already have plenty of tops as well as a nice even cannopy.

Only top if you're worried about neighbors and plant size.

I would disagree. The extra main colas do increase yield.
Does it really increase yield or are you just redirecting the energy of the plants to the tops instead of all the smaller interior buds? Think about that before answering. ;)

There is no NEED to top outdoors. You can do it. But you do not NEED to. ;)

It increases yield. Ive experimented before to prove it. When you top the plant it makes 2 or 3 main colas that it wouldnt have before.. thats alot more bud.

I dont want to talk shit, but once you get out of those one gallon pots, you can give advice to a guy growing bushes.
Im not talking shit.. just saying that my topped plants always yield more than non-topped plants of the same strain. And I have to keep my plants bonzai size bcuz of my grow location. At my old house I used to grow 5 foot bushes all the time.

Like I said to jon.. the topped plants always give me more weight than the non topped plants of the same strain. Im just speaking from experience, not trying to argue.
I am not trying to argue either but the way you post around here is like you know what you are doing. Please chill on giving advise for a bit. You are going to ruin some poor persons crop!

You are telling him to stress his plant out when he doesn't need to. Have you ever topped too late and realized that it was your main cola and didn't have time to regrow it? I have. All mistakes you are leading this guy to do. :)

I will bow out now though. I don't wanna get into any funk with you. We are all getting along so nicely now! :D
