Hi there this is my first grow outdoors in a greenhouse, i bought loads of seeds off herbies seed bank, some died with growmore pellets/horse manure. so these ones i havnt used any on them and just giving foiler feed and liquid nutes every 2nd water at the min.

Heres pics i dont know how long til i can sex them but i cant seem to see any visible signs yet.
does it matter if the roots are growing out the bottom? like in the pic
and will it hurt a plant much if something is eating holes into it also pic will be posted below.
Also im considering topping some of these as they are getting lanky any advice on this plz share. View attachment
Any other advice you think would be worth knowing please feel free to share.

But i would definitely get those plants some bigger pots. The spot that is eaten has nothing to say, as long it does not continue to happen. And some of your plants is stretching for light, get them outside if the climate is warm enough :)

Hi guys thanks for your reply, its been about 20 degrees celcius in the day time at the minute, and at night it drops to about 13 degrees celsius. so do you think letting them outside for the day every day would benefit them and then put them back in when it starts getting colder? and thanks there is some spiders in the greenhouse which i have left to their own devices as flies often get in through the ventilation holes. Also i like the fim/top idea i might try that tomorrow with one or two plants.

also what size pots do you think they should be in for an outdoor grow like this? i thought they were in their finishing pot now but then again im a noobie compared to 99.9% of this forum lol Thanks again for the replies. Happy smoking

Those temperatures should be fine :) the only reason i would put it inside the greenhouse at night is for protecting it against the rain as the ph can be too high or too low for your plant depending on where you live

The pot, i don't know, i'm using 15 liters pots i think, quite big, they need to have space for the roots, perlite is also a good thing for your roots, it provides oxygen :)

Well ill definately give it a try and put them outside for a while each day, yeh i agree with the rain, also i live in a rural area, so many animals to eat my precious planties lol i think the pots i have them all in are 15 litres also, its just some were planted half way and then soil added so roots are already low down so may have to transplant if you think so. see where the greenhouse is situated is a bit closed off by trees ill take a pic tomorrow and show you see what you think. does the perlite be added at the bottom of the plant pot before putting it in?

Perlite is good at the bottom as well as mixed in the soil
My pots are about 40 cm in diameter and about 30cm high, i don't remember how many liters it is :)

Imo your pots looks a little too small, so i would transplant them :)

In the pic's it looks like you are under watering a little, otherwise they are looking good, but two of them looks like they are stretching for light.

How old are they?

Has anyone tried charcoal at the bottom of the pot? I heard it was beneficial in some ways including with pH issues.

Hi Nick
you may be right i dont give them enough water that it drains out the bottom and i water evry 2-3days. just scared of over doing it as iv seen the consequences with my last seeds :( what would you suggest, how much would you water a 15 litre pot and how often? is it the same with nutrient watering?
They are about 5-7 weeks old now.
Also zaycor havnt used charcoal before but heard of polystrene lol

ill get better pics for tomorrow, but do you think i should get something to raise them off the ground a good bit, at the min they are all just on the floor

I water a single plant 0.7 -1 liter water (soak the soil a little and water every 2 day), and i look at the development and the leaves to determine to feed more or less. I am not the best to explain feeding cycle as i only know how to see it on the plant

When over watering the leave is hanging down and the leave stem is standing up, when under watering the whole leave and leave stem is hanging down, when the leaves is standing straight out the soil is perfectly moist and it can change within 10 minutes from watering :)

Only if you are dealing with insects, you need to place your plants on a spot with more sunlight, and maybe get some glass or something more transparent than that plastic you have set up :)

gonna have to look into that underwatering issue tomorrow and give them a good watering if need be, only problem is not many places to do it round here and will be hard to move unless i cut some trees down lol yeh i think ill get a table as some insects are on the floor as theres little gaps to outside :( also i was thinking of getting a solar fan as there is no ventilation apart from a small opening at the back and same at the front to let air through. would this plastic do for this grow?

Yes you could make a plant under that plastic, but of course it would grow a lot bigger if placed outside :)
If you keep them in the greenhouse you definitely need some kind of air flow, a fan could do it, depending on the size of the fan :)

Then cut some trees :p just make sure nobody can see it, unless it is legal where you live :p
