I have rotating grill fans hanging horizontally now. They swirl my canopy nicely, but most brands I've tried have a "hot spot" in the center that batters the plants in that area. The kind I use spreads out the wind really well, but they were discontinued and are getting hard to find. So at some point I'm going to need to find something else.

Maybe try a piece of duct tape over the grill in the middle running long ways?... If Im understanding what you're doing.

It looks good but I was disappointed to see its a mere 8w of power, less than some 120mm case fans.

EC motors are a lot more efficient than the power sucking, shaded pole motors in small AC fans.
Its when you turn them off for a few days then they make weird noises. Nothing a little bit of grease and a good clean wont fix though.
How to you attach those things to a tent pole?
I have a hurricane 16" on a wall that's been on continuously for over a year now.
I used a 2x4 and a scrap piece of wood. Measured the 2x4 to fit tight, drilled 2 holes at each end and used zip ties. Pretty easy and works well.
You can hang it horizontally as well
