I'm trying out an coco coots mix now so I'll let you know how it goes. I'd learn organics first over coco. Coco with synthetic nutrients and coco with organics is going to be totally different.

I'm using a mixture of loco coco, ocean forest ,perlite and ewc. I fluctuate the ph 6.2-6.8 and so far so good, though my plants are young. I use straight tap water. I use jobe's organics 3-5-4 for the calcium and the beneficial goodies for the soil. .. and Alaska fish fertilizer 5-1-1 very mildly...and my favorite Big Bloom...

Was looking back at older posts and found this again. I got my grow setup now, if you want to check it out I will link it right here.

Right now I’m using Gold Royal Tupur (coco coir aged forest materials, perlite, and basalt)

Nutrients:
Hydro Organics Green reign all purpose 5-5-5
Hydro organics Verde Fire Bloom 0-9-3

I mixed the medium with 75% 5-5-5, 25% 0-9-3
Transplanted seedlings in solo cup with it.

I still have the container of ammended medium, I wanted to ask what other amendments you guys would recommend for me to use.

Im thinking of grabbing some EWC, bat guano, alfalfa meal and kelp meal.

Happy growing :weed:

I am growing in : 50% Turpur, 25 % worm castings, 25 % Ocean Forest, and a dry mix of Alfalfa Meal, Kelp Meal, Fish Bone Meal, Azomite, Oyster Shell Meal, Humics, Bat Guano. I like the ease of it. Plants get rootbound much faster though, as they got the oxygen and food they need. I second those who mentioned the Ca and Mg issues. My first grow in it had that same problem. Once I added the Oyster Shell, and top dress with Epsom Salt every once in awhile, I havent had the issue since.

Sounds like a really nice mix. How far into the grow do you have to start top dressing? or does it feed throughout the whole grow?

Well, depends on the strain. Like the dinachem in flowering right now is getting a weekly top dressing of worm castings and bat guano . I was also growing a lemon larry og, but it didnt seem to benefit from the extra top dressing. Usually I top dress once every two weeks in veg. I have done a full grow without top dressing, but the benefits are apparent when I do.

I've been using 25% coco in a modified subs supersoil mix, ran into calcium and mg problems but I didn't prep coco so shame on me. I can't get away from how well the root system does in coco so attempt #2 with prepped coco was better but nutrients as a whole just ran out. I up the calcium content and mg during prep, flush coco with water from eavesdrop and rinse till ppm are less than 100. Then fortify soil with extra mg and ca. Gangbusters until the soil gets exhausted so now on to larger pot sizes.
