new to organics, wounder if I ruined my organic soil mix?

I made something similar to subcool soil, I could not set it in the sun, as here in Michigan It would freeze, so to "cook it" faster.... I placed my seedling heat mat in the middle of the mix....damn thing only gets about 80F....right? NO!!!

The soil got so hot today, I could not touch it!!! shit was smoking ass hot!! it wasn't the mat either, as I had 2 batches, and they were in differant 20 gal plastic cans and both were just as hot! I unplugged them, shit was still hot 4 hours later LOL.

So is this stuff going to be any good? I just made it 2 days ago, That's what I get for trying organics.... ;)

Sounds about normal if you did it right.

Google 'thermal compost' if you want the long answer, but now you see why they call it *cooking*.

You didn't mess anything up. As the microbial activity in the soil mixture slows down the heap of dirt will cool down.

I placed the heating mat in the middle of the soil to keep it warm as the garage was only about 40/50 F, but the shit got so hot I could not hold it in my hand! I don't know how it took of so fast?

it was a mix of pro mix, canna coco, kelp meal, blood meal, bone meal, azomite, humisol, folvic mykos, acid, epsom salt, and water. I think it must be the kelp meal kicking it so fast.

I have a mix I made a few days ago with no heat mat, it's not hot, but does have white fuzz growing on top.

The other shit cooled down today....so it's only been 3 days, now that it cooled, how long before it's ready to use? thanks for the organic help!

i would like to let my ogranic soil cooking for three weeks, to get a organic things breakdown real good, i personally will put one month old plants into that soil, i like to plant seed in the party cup filled with peat moss and perlite, no additives for three weeks or more. thats way it wont stunt or burn seedlings. your organic soil is fine..just let cooking for one month like WetDog said...

happy growing and peace
