Looking good, I'd recommend trimming off the small lower branches

I use to trim them until I lost some to a virus. any cut or insect bite opens the plant up to infection, for me a few small buds is better than a dead plant. .

Hi Jetson , thats just plain water. I amended the ground very well with alfalfa, rock dust, calphos, bone meal and humic acid in last Feb. I just supplement with Alaska fish fert 5,1,1. Once in June and once in July. 4 gals per plant.

Were they under protection/supplemental lighting? I set mine out in May and that seemed early...

Hi WV: Jetson,
no cover, planted well after frost. no supplemental lighting.
Started the seeds with 13.5 hrs of light,
Did have a problem, they started to flower before , pots to small , transplanted them into 3 gallon pots. Adjusted light to 14 hrs,
Until 4,18 planted by the lunar calendar 2 days before full moon, just they way I garden.
Basically they stretched some then went "reveg" .
Now they are shrubs a 6ft
The purpose of this exercise was to increase root ball size, get a stouter trunk.
Waiting to see what they do for flowers.

Is your ultimate goal maximum quantity per plant? Just curious.
This year I'm experimenting with trying to grow smaller plants, but several of my experiments went off the rails and most are already bigger than I wanted them to be. For me, many pounds would be useless and a pain in the ass to process and store. I'd like to keep the total harvest under two pounds. As it stands, I anticipate keeping the top colas and composting the rest, which is why once a week I go out and trim off little branches. I'm trying to keep them with fewer larger branches, in hopes of having fewer larger colas. The downside is that big fat colas can be more susceptible to bud rot than (more) smaller ones, but every upside has a downside.
