Optics for DIY LED lights

I tried to search but didn't find much so I decided to start this thread. If you know how to match optics to different cobs (cree 3070, vero 29, etc) please post here so we can have the knowledge when we need it. Do we really need optics to begin with? What is the difference between the different angles? Should you go with a glass lens or a reflector? I see opticgrowlights.com use some kind of a lens on their lights. Amare uses a reflector and a lens, from what I see. We can probably source the same parts that they use. Post if you know any of it.

Bonjour
Someone should start a thread with the complete list of the components to build cxb/vero pannels to avoid questions answered every week (almost every day now...)
It is a pleasure to help people, but hear guys asked how to build cxb/vero all the time...it would be great to answer: go to the thread "cxb/vero components list!" Or something more English!?!
With a very detailed description of everything needed to build pannels
It could help...
Have a great day ★

Bonjour
Maybe change the name for something more "general" cause it sound like it is only for cxa 3070...
I meant a thread with all cob and what people's need to buy with it...a list of most popular DIY!
Have a great day ★
That build applies to veros, 3590, 3070...all cobs. And shows all the little stuff along with it that are not talked about in general threads, plus it has hyperlinks too. It is the best and detailed "basics" build threads I've seen. It is also the most electrically safe build option there is. If a general public open source build is going to be referenced...one drive per cob is the way to go. Anything else is for a "more advanced" build...that all those original build principles apply other than driver selection. Which is all covered in the "how to power" sticky. https://www.rollitup.org/t/diy-leds-how-to-power-them.801554/

You said it already...it's all on here. Many times already condensed at the beginning of a long drawn out thread. People just need to get their search and reading skills up. The issue is when people don't understand the concepts and principles behind offered "solutions".
Why does "driver X" work for situation "Y"? is what people need to understand. Not just read a list of what works with what. As time progresses that will continually be outdated or obsolete like you are thinking of the battlestar build. But the principles behind it are universal and carry on.
Without an understanding, only solutions are useful to a person. With an understanding...they can derive the solution to any situation/scenario.
You can give a man a fish...or you can teach him to fish himself. Sustainable knowledge.

For inspiration of build types from basic to complex...

If one thread is to be all encompassing of a whole build...I guarantee it will never "get it all" into a decent summarization that will last over time without needing revision/updating.
But if we make dedicated threads of subjects of a build...that continue and evolve with time...people won't read them because "they're too long". But that is the point...there is no one answer and length is what examines all the options.

Anyways...just my opinion...I digress
