for an indica dominant, you can't go wrong with northern lights. low odor, very productive, and easy to grow. it's in a TON of crosses including popular NL5 hazes. i have some 25% NL5 columbian gold myself. if you want to go for flavor, OG kush is still very popular and in a ton of newer crosses. people were paying $2000 for that back before cuttings and eventually seeds started circulating. i've never tried it myself and always gift OG freebies, but there's got to be some reason people love it so much and from what i remember about the cannabible entry, it's the flavor. speaking of flavor, i have a tart cherry buddha's sister indica bean i want to test. it's supposed to be very resinous, and it has won a cannabis cup, or maybe it was it's reclining buddha sister. it might be skunky too, but that flavor sounds more interesting than blueberry to me. i'm not a fan of blueberry, but THAT strain is hugely popular, and actually took 1st place in an informal favorites survey with a couple dozen at least replies, only a few votes ahead of haze. i like the idea of at least getting a delicious flavor if going with an indica. i'll NEVER get people STILL liking the skunkiest strains possible... mmmm mmmm mmm... that skunk's ass sure tastes WTF?!!!!

If you were a pot smoker you would understand why people STILL like skunk strains.

Why dont you go ahead and tell everyone how many months its been since you last smoked "pot" (in your case budleaf trim). I am guessing atleast 6 months since you last smoked.

althor, That is a very good question to figure out before you get too deep into strains that can be very difficult to grow and maintain. Your question shows maturity in wanting to learn and not being afraid to ask - We are all learning as time and technology are continually changing how and what we grow.Consider the following:1. What are my medicinal needs if you use it for medicine. 2. How much yield does the strain produce3. How long is the flowing time - Very important if you are growing inside. It's nice to keep the electric bill down.4. How hearty is the plant - Is it a tough plant, and can it withstand going through attacks from predators like spider mites, etc.If you can get good seeds you won't be bringing in predators like spider mites. If you go the way of getting clones take the precaution of keeping it out of your garden until you're sure they are free of anything that will taint your whole garden. Dispensaries are notorious for selling you clones that have spider mites and or other predators I learned that the hard way one time and it took me forever to be free of spider mites. I hate those freaking bugs!

personally i would avoid skunk strains if potency is the main trait the op is looking for
skunks often do well for yield lots of funky smells and flavours, but i find they lack potency and density to the buds
skunks do tend to have a great flower to leaf ratio, they make good commercial strains, as the buds tend to appear larger as they lack density
too many strains to choose from overall thousands on seedfinder

haze/kush/ afghan are all normally better for potency imo ,you could find a good Jack pheno in 10 weeks same with SSH or many of the kush hybrids out there
or even a kush/haze hybrid

dynamite from next gen is easy to grow 8 week indica good potency lots of resin lots of smell and flavour it is a seed version of the grapefruit clone, which i think is a renamed very old NL pheno

afghan#1 from sensi seed .. personally i never grew this strain until late on, i thought it would be boring since it was an ingredient in so many indica/sativa hybrids in the mid to late 90s the hybrids seemed more appealing at the time , how wrong was i lol , i think some of the best smoke i have ever had has come from simple afghan, buds that are very dense and smoke like hash, not so good as skunk for yield, but much more satisfying as a personal smoke imo

peace :)

^ I agree with much of what you say about skunk... but... You can get those low leaf flower ratio and high yields in high potency with a nice Skunk x Indica. Green Crack is a great example. I tried a skunk x kush, but all the females refused to offer the kush taste and potency. Yields were excellent though.I don't know about dynamite... but sweet pink grapefruit is an amazing smoke. It's a good best of both worlds kind of plant. Yields are not too fantastic, but quality is way up there. I don't see the NL in it though. I've heard about it possibly being NL#1. But what makes you think NL?

The Dynamite pheno i had for a while produced the same dark green very dense short leaves in the bud which i remember NL did in quite a unique way overall i am not too keen on this trait but once removed the buds were very dense it also had a smell that also reminded me of northern lights that i had grown before, but the taste was much sweeter
i have also heard that it was apparently NL#1 too, dynamite is also related to the mikado strain which was from the same guy as dynamite from his old company federation seeds in the early 90s
he then started up next generation seeds years later, the mikado i have not grown myself to compare them, this strain came at a time when everything was heavily dominated by NL
i don't know for sure but there is a good chance it is a NL clone renamed or has a fair amount of NL in its makeup

i agree with what you say about skunk when it is crossed with other strains, when it is on its own i am not so keen on it
skunk#1 was the first hybrid strain i grew superskunk too, it wasn't until i started growing afghan dominated strains and NL5xhaze
that i was trully satisfied with the bud, at the time of skunk i was still also smoking imported hash, the skunk was just too light for me the buds too thin with the taste
i was used to the more oily thicker tasting nature of hash

finding a indica dom plant with enough skunk in it to bring the size and yield up is good if you can find the right pheno and still keep a nice stone
personally i would rather find an afghan/haze cross, that is afghan dominated with enough haze to bring the yield up but not mess with potency
there are some very nice g13 leaning phenos to find from g13/haze and shantis afghan haze too as an alternative to skunk

peace :)

if you want a potent FUNKY euphoric production plant, see if you can track down some flumpy's lowdown mystery. it was like a 10 inch or less hershey's kiss of roadkill. the very first bud i ever made under a 24/7 shoplight no less. hashberry and ice castle are a couple brick wall strains too. funky strains are just a way to silently advertise you're holding on the street. it's a holdover from the bag appeal mythology. i never liked it from the beginning as it was like an added poopoo insult after afghanis usurped columbian columbian gold which only needed to smell like the pinecones it was grown near and probably the field grass it was grown in too... and we loved it! it's just a stupid flavor to be chasing to me... like diesel, catpiss, baby crap, hog's breath, & freakin' enema with a twist of rotting cabbage. your bud smells like skunk ass! that can't be a good thing! LOL get away... it's got rabies! i'm surprised some hopped up on guitar hero gearhead that loves skunk and carnage hasn't already crossed skunk and diesel for a true roadkill strain and called it freakin' highway 66 or something. even though it tastes "clean and organic", lavender isn't a treat either though. it's like getting on an elevator with someone wearing so much perfume your eyes burn and you can taste it, only without the eyes burning.
