Opinions please - Ready or not?

This is my first 'is it ready' post. I wasn't going to ask, but I've started second guessing myself. This weekend will be 10 weeks that these have been flowering. I was planning on chopping this weekend, but I don't want to make the mistake of doing it too early. Trichomes are mostly cloudy, but still a few clear with a few amber mixed in. I was hoping for more amber because I like a good couch lock, but they're starting to look pretty done to me.

The crispy leaves are from being burned by the light. Those buds were the furthest from the bulb, but those Adjust-A-Wings have a weird light spread, and it seems the outer edges are the hottest spots. Now I know.

Anyway, what do you guys think?

Yep, they're burnt alright. I'll have to take better pictures when the light comes back on.

oh, yeah... I see what's wrong! They grew sideways! I'd say, 'wait a few days and see if they go vertical again', but I'm stoned.
hahaha....good one.

Those plants could come down now if you needed them to. I grew a strain of diesel that looked ALOT like this one. That plant could go for weeks...I think you could take it now if you needed to and it would be good smoke. I know if it grows as much like the diesel as it looks....Ten more days it will swell a bit more and the resin crystals will amber off a bit more? Looks good

Yea I reckon you could chop and get some couch lock going.......watch what you're doing when your drying.........I reckon those gals will dry quickly and make sure you get all those burnt leaves dealt with properly or they could cause problems in your curing......and I also run the adjustawings and your spot on ........ the edges are the hottest.....but once you have it dialled in IMO it's defo one of the best shades out their.......

Yeah, that heat on the outer edges really took me by surprise. I figured I'd be okay with the tallest branches furthest away from the bulb, but I was very wrong about that. I've raised the light a bit and everything seems good now. I sat down in the tent and spent some time having a good, long look at trichomes, and as badly as I want to harvest, I'm still seeing too many clear and not enough amber. They're almost all cloudy white, but there are a few clear and not many amber at all. I'm so anxious to chop, but I decided to push it back until next weekend, which will be 11 weeks flowering. The breeder says 8 - 10 weeks for this strain, but this being my first indoor grow, things are far from ideal. So I think I'll let them go one more week.

On a side note, when I was watering the other day I accidentally snapped off a tiny little popcorn bud from the bottom of one of them. I dried it out and smoked it and got surprisingly baked. I'm excited to try it after a proper harvest/dry/cure.

Thanks for the reply.

You know, the people looking at your pictures have even less of an idea if they are ready or not.
In fact, anyone who is willing to take a GUESS from a picture, is not someone I would recommend listening to anyway.
Go get a 10 dollar microscope and check it.

I have a microscope, which is how I check trichomes, and is why I've decided to wait another week.

So an experienced grower can't tell by a pic......especially with info provided.......wipe your mouth......your dribbling
Exactly.
An experienced grower would know that strains and phenotypes can be completely different with very misleading "signs" of readiness. An experienced grower would know that the only way to truly tell if a plant is ready is by checking the trichomes.
An experienced grower would know there is no way to check trichomes from a picture.

I think that an experienced grower can guage readiness by the overall look of a plant, as opposed to only looking at trichomes. I'm not an experienced grower, which is why I asked for more opinions. I'm looking at trichomes but figured more experienced eyes looking at the plants might see something I don't.

I reckon you won't regret it......I'm in the same position as you with one of my room's and I will wait till nearly all(70%) of the pistils r browned up and receding........and as far as the trichs go.......well a little amber is good but as I learned on my last crop to much can decrease the potency of your buds.......only my op.....
