Police located and broke up 49 hydroponics labs Wednesday, netting more than $9 million in marijuana alone. Cocaine, guns and Oxycontin pills were all located by police, who arrested 42 people.

"Operation Rake" was conducted by agencies across the state. In Miami-Dade County, the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA), FBI, Homestead Police Department, Coral Gables Police, State Attorney's Office and Team Metro teamed up to investigate several residences where hydroponics labs were suspected of operating.

It is important to the community to be aware of the dangers involved in these labs; they include but are not limited to diverted power lines, use of multiple chemicals and poor ventilation.

In the end, police collected 2,369 pounds of marijuana from 49 labs in the county. The pot has a street value of $9.4 million. They arrested 42 people. They also located seven firearms, 11 grams of cocaine, 40 grams of process marijuana, 126 Oxycontin pills, an Audi and $9,562 in cash.

Information obtained during the raids gave police the ability to bust another lab in Vero Beach. There, one person was arrested; police took in 601 pounds of marijuana plants, worth $2.4 million.
