One Tent, How Can I Dry In Darkness?..

I have lots of plants in this tent, and this is my only tent (well besides a measly little 2x2 used for seedling) and I’ve read about how bad it is for your plant to dry it in the light. BEFORE i read that, my plan was to dry it in the tent during 12/12 While the other plants go into flower. I plan on cutting and hanging it whole so I know it will take at least two weeks which is fine, but will I ruin all my hard work if I dry it in partial light? I don’t really have a choice since this tent is my only option and has an awesome carbon filter to get rid of that strong smell.. what I’m getting at is, does anyone have a method or a way around this? I’ve heard paper bags etc. and if anyone has any suggestions about how long to dry/cure please let me know as this is my first grow and I am not experienced. Thank you!

Do not dry it in light can you not use a cardboard box and hang it in there

I never dry in total darkness and my shit is dank...you'll be fine. I have a mesh hanging rack and hang it in the corner of the basement outside the grow room...It gets some ambient light, and it does not hurt a thing.I wouldn't dry in direct light or sunlight however. Beautiful plants yourself. Don't stress over it! And no need to leave them in darkness for 3 days prior to trimming either...another myth!

Do you have a spare bathroom with a good exhaust fan? Works great, and because bathrooms are typically pretty small, it's easy to manage the humidity (humidifier or dehumidifier). The exhaust fan does a pretty decent job of exhausting the odor directly outdoors.

Cardboard box as said above

You don’t need total darkness but you don’t want to do it in the bloom tent. It will be too warm.

Yeah I could do that. Just hang it to dry and tape the cardboard box to the top of the tent I suppose

Awesome thanks for the reply! I will rig something decent up, I live in an apartment with some a hole neighbors that would rat on me in a heartbeat if they smelled pot. That carbon filter and ona is saving my ass right now lol.

Not really any other option for me, do you think it would hurt my other plants to just keep them dark for the drying? Noob question I know but just out of curiosity.

Yeah I wouldnt be concerned with drying in total darkness, As long as it's not in direct sunlight you wont notice any difference in quality, I use a cardboard box with temp/humidity controls.....

You could use one of those wardrobe boxes. Very tall and already has a hanger bar. Cut a hole and use a piece of vent hose from the box to one of the inlets on the tent. Add another hole for intake on the box.

If you dry in the tent where the temp is in the high 70s you’re gong to lose quality. Above 70 THC will be begin to convert to CBN. Additionally, at tent temperatures it’s going to get crispy on the outside very quickly and the plant willl not have had a chance to break down the chlorophyll and starches. Ideally you want 68 degrees for the first three days then lower the temp if possible.

If it’s absolutely necessary to dry in the tent I’d cut all the fan leaves and hang whole until the outsides are dry crispy, maybe 3-4 days (unfortunately too quickly but unavoidable) then clip all the buds and put them in a paper bag and roll closed. Put the bags in a cool place and check and stir daily until they are ready to smoke then trim the buds and jar. This is basically the method I use but my hang dry time is 7-10 days because of the lower temps and humidity control.

You might want to start giving some thought to where you plan on trimming the buds when the time comes. That gets really smelly.
