get mold inside your bud at curing time or after

do you have to break them up to dry and cure properly cause my rez chemdog x sour diesels are getting pretty big now in week 8 going to week 10 by site but i was told to go 11 and they are huge now

i did what rez suggested to grow to 6 nodes then top back to two and grow to 15 inches she is beautiful smells dank funky lovely

im at it for almost two years now and have never had buds this large before im now thinking ahead on mold issues

do i just go as normal and treat same as i did for smaller buds

thats a good qustion. the way to dry big buds is curing, thats the redistribution of moisture.

Drying and curing are completely different. Curing is done in a sealed jar and you certainly dont want to try to dry in a sealed jar.

Hang it 'till it's dry to the touch, then stick it in a jar. Close the jar. With brand new buds, I go back within 6-8 hours, or if they've been in there more than a day, I do it daily, but you open the jar until they're dry to the touch again, then close the jar. This pulls the moisture out of the middle of the bud. Pretty soon, (within four or five days) you'll open the jar and the buds will still be dry. That means the moisture is completely gone.

About halfway through that process, I take everything out, put it in a baggie, roll it up like it's going out the door, make the baggie tight, then unroll and put back in the jar. This helps compress the buds so they look all compact and stuff. NEVER cure in a baggie, though. They won't dry right.

When I have had colas or really large buds that were large enough that I was worried about mold I would section them ... cut them into two, three or four shorter pieces. It doesn't help with thickness/density but it still opens up more surface area to drying by exposing more 'top' and 'bottom' areas than one long large one would have.

I always take them apart. It seems like a crime but it is all for me and is going to be processed again anyway. Once they are dry enough from hanging I take them all apart and leave them out another day before they go in the jars. I have never had mold issues but don't aim to either. I am sure there is nothing like pulling out a nice long perfect cola but I try to be more practical. Like my mom used to say, "it's all going to the same place.

i heard that if you arent careful with jars then you can end up making your stuff smell grassy. is this true? and how do you avoid that?

The grassy smell is normal and is the chlorophyll breaking down. I think it smells more like hay than grass. It comes on real strong at first but fades over the days and the real smell comes in. It's happened w/ every harvest I've done. I'm pretty sure it's completely normal.
