One Plant Grow

so I live in las vegas and here it's black and white. Bad weed has seeds and good weed does not. There's kronik/kush/hydro/etc and then there's stress. So that being said, I was ripping up a free bowl my friend gave me a few nights ago and it had the craziest orange hairs ever, with little white hairs on it and crystals and shit, when a seed falls out this nug. I was astonished to see this seed. My friend smoked a quarter of the shit and never found a seed. So anyway I'm sprouting it soon and planting it in either rock wool or FFOF. I have a couple questions though.

Will 4 42w and 4 23w cfls be too much for one plant, or can there even be too much light?
Will rockwool really make a difference or can I just plant it in FFOF?
And when will the smell become noticeable because I'm not wasting time on a carbon scrubber until I need it.

So any advice would be grately appreciated. Happy new years!

See if you can even get the seed to sprout in a single peat pellet with just water and one cfl.
Most places don't sell single rockwool cubes and starting in soil is very hard compared to the above.
The odds of this even sprouting are 50/50 at best, and then odds of being a male is another 50/50.

No nutrients, just water when it needs it.

Play the longshot odds and see how it goes before buying a bunch of stuff.

I'm not going into this looking for a qp off a plant. I'd be happy with a half ounce off the plant. I've run into a couple more seeds from someone elses weed, but it's not as bomb. I'm sprouting two seeds and I saved the other bomb one, which turned out to be Afgani Gold. Anyway thanks for the advice.

rockwool is the best to start with imo. and technically i guess you can never have to much light... but remember, you can always easily have to much heat, but those cfls dont give off a lot of heat anyways so you should be good

I'm going to find rw for the afgan but in the mean time I'm just going to grow in a medium with the mid seeds. But now that I think about it I've had some pretty shitty luck with sprouting seeds in the past. I wrapped it up in a napkin, got it wet and stuck it in a little plastic jar. Pretty much what am I forgetting?

darkness and warmth....darkness seems to be, atleast, my key for successful germinating....close to 100% germination i mean there are always those seeds you get every once in a while that look all deformed and dont look they will germinate anyway. I don't count those ones

try wetting a paper towel then placing the seeds and placing them in a plastic bag in a dark place or between 2 plates face to face most plates are not transparent and will block 100% of light (not paper plates real ones!)

I made seeds tested them had a zero sprout ratio. 1 year later i put 30 seeds(same batch) in a pot to sprout. 30 seedlings later i am assuming the seeds need a rest period before germinating.

Seeds aren't viable for that long. Too old

It didn't sprout. I was assuming this and I'm not surprised. I'll throw in the other shit seed and if that doesn't sprout it's on with afgan. Which with my luck probably wont sprout. I have an industrial light fixture that's all wired up and I was wondering if I can use a 65w flood light (says it's high qaulity?) just to get the plant about an inch above the soil?

I am too old but the seeds sprouted 1 year later. I have had 5 year old seeds sprout.
That's in general, there are exceptions to every rule. Seedbanks selling 1 year old seeds would have a lot of problems on their hands.

Stored right they might get away with it better though, and probably a lot do anyway and the failed seeds are just chalked up to being dud's or whatever.
