Just keep tucking under the first net. A second net is only needed for support if they stretch too far after the switch.
Is that all I need to do or should I start with some topping ?

Depends on the strain, and how it reacts to the scrog. The screen encourages the side branch growth, so it is just as effective as topping.

Deffo start topping early on, I’ve used 1 2 and 3 nets but I’m sick that I have to climb in the tent under canopy to get to back plants, so next time I’m using bamboo canes. The most important thing to do is get topping. Good luck!

Why not both, when ur filling a 4x4 canopy with one plant topping is a must when it comes to getting branches in all 4 corners

I seriously have not topped a plant on purpose since i learned to super crop. You absolutely can fill your space just with supercropping, and you can do it faster than topping, with less stress to the plant.

+1 supercropping, it's like fimming on steroids and with basically no recovery time like topping or fimming..

Ok I’m gonna try this, so when I’d usually break apical dominance by removing the shoot I wud just bend it over. I like to top mine for 4 main branches, so in the case of super cropping I would still have five but the central one would be bent over and I’d just use this to help fill in the centre of the square while the other 4 are sent for the corners? Thanks bud

You typically want the plant to get a little taller before supercropping. I'd say at least 12" tall.
When topping a plant, you usually are removing the very top shoot....With supercropping you can go down several bud sites and bend the plant over, and all those bud sites above your bend will become tops.
It is good to make sure the plant is well watered before bending...this will help reduce stems snapping off completely.
The plants will look rough after supercropping but they bounce right back within a day or 2 usually.
Start small...Try just 1-2 branches at first and then see what they look like in a few days.

I'm excited, typically I run multiple small plants in drain to waste , had some extra room so threw this setup together. Will give me quite a different experience.

Super cropping is awesome if you ask me. I think the overall bounce back time is shorter than with topping. I’ve done 3 harvests in the 4x4 with a single plant. Never topped. I did a journal on one of them.
Here’s pics from the other 2.
First one is a clone from the plant in the above thread.. only in double the amount of soil. (10gal)
This one was also in a 5gal pot, plus she isn’t much of a stretcher.
You can see the lack of experience in this one. It’s getting ironed out though. Practice makes perfect. I still have a mother of this strain, so I’ll be giving it another go round.

I'd like to do this but I'm having trouble visualizing how I can do it in such a way that it'll provide an even canopy without any defoliation. Any tips?

All branches that grow taller will be bent to maintain canopy. Just bend them in the direction you want them
