I think I am going to harvest today but I have seen talk in this forum on keeping the mother plant. I only have that one plant so I guess I want to know how that is done. Do I just cut off the buds and leave the rest to grow? Any help would be appreciated.

you cant make the plant you have a mother now. or atleast ive never heard of it being done. a mother plant is a plant that's never been put into flowering. what you do is grow another plant and keep her in veg her whole life. then you cantake cuttings off and flower those almost immediately since the mother has already taken care of the veg part, they (the clones) dont need to go through it again.

cut your plant down and hang her upside down to start the dry. you cant do much else with her except harvest at this point

you can also re-veg the plant.. i believe you take the top buds, and leave a couple of bottom buds, try not to tear it up too much, then put it under 24 hours of light.. yield might be lower but it will still be good bud.. you may want to read up on it.. i dont know if this is good for making a mother, however im sure after its revegged you can take clones.. i have never tried this myself so get some other opinions first

no, not if your in the end of flowering.. all you can do to keep it alive is re-veg

It will be faster to start with seeds, it can be done. What you have to do is, root the clones and then slowly over the next few months trim all of the old flowering material, leaves buds etc. as the new grows in and up. About every two weeks, trim them again. I started this process in late March or early April and just harvested from them about the first of September. I don't recommend it. VV

I have a plant that i have seeded several times and budded and smoked and shes 3 years old and is currently flowering again,isnt difficult at all.
Just cut about 90% of the bud of and leave all the lower leaves on,then put it into a 24/0 light cycle for at least 2 weeks and a high nitrogen feed.
Plant will regenerate just fine as long as you leave enough green leaf on and very small bits of bud here and there,each old green seed pod will turn into a new leaf over time

Yes and again and again and again and again,some strains will hermie out or die though but i made this strain myself so youll have to check with whoever you bought the seeds from about the intricacies of your particular plant.
Some strains are much more difficult and fusy to grow than others,so you need to check before you do anything.

I am going to let this mother die of now anyway after she has budded and provided me with another stem full of seeds,the rest sensi,as she is old and im starting to feel a bit guilty like Frankenstein lol,i have 2 clones of her anyway.

If you want me to post more pics as she goes along into this thread i will so you can see how she does

lol ,it seems we have interests in lots of the same threads natmoon. your old lady looks good for her age lol,yeah lollylollylolly u can definitly reveg her but i had a question for natmoon...if u keep reveging her and budding will she yield a little bit less after each harvest? Thanks in advance for your time.

Shes been in that pot for 3 years with the same mud so i rekon that she will yeild a bit less yes lol.
If you repot them and reveg them properly i would say no she has had only 3 weeks to reveg which isnt really a long time i would say 4-6 weeks really and shes been in a 12/12 for 2 weeks tomorrow.

That particular plant has had about 12" cut of the top at least since her last grow and all over the sides i will still expect a few good stems of bud from her and a handful of seeds.

So to sum up i reckon no,just as much yield if not more because of the topping aspect as long as you repot and reveg carefully and properly,and if you leave it in the same old mud and pot as i have done the buds will be smaller but also more compact because of the obvious rootbinding
