One branch doesn't smell/low resin

Hey peeps.
This is for some of the more experienced growers....
I have a sour diesel plant going and it looks great, smells good, overall health and vigor is there....
But there is this one branch that has undeveloped resin glands and smells like absolutely nothing, grass.
Its a bottom branch, but it has grown up to the rest of the canopy, it was a respectable 1/4" diameter branch so nothing spindly.....there are buds that get less light that are better.
I have since cut it off as to not waste any resources on it, but I am still curious as to what that was all about....
All my years of growing and never seen this, any ideas?

stranger things have happened, theres still things we're learning, if I had to take a guess id say it was something occurring in earlier growth. Im not finna ask for info cause im on once a month or two but I've got a couple thoughts. 1.maybe a genetic thing including an odd mutation not seen usually that is to say in thegenes passed in that seed theres a decimal Iin the wrong place. 2. Was there any damage done? Even if its not visible to thenaked eye whos to say there wasn't a "stress fracture" "micro break" that is maybe it got bumped and the motion pinched some "plant veins" if you dig what I mean, and it fucked with nutes to the branch. Barring those im stumped without more info but im not on here much, id say if for personal throwa nug off of It in with the occasional doob if for others put a few points to a couple g's (determined by final amount) in and no ones gonna bitch, specialy if cured with your crops cream. As for why those are the only thoughtsI have besides more detailed things ill mention em tho, airflow, didnt get enough? Humidity, far end of the room? Etc temps, co2, circulation could be it

Many hormones are held in the lower lateral branches,
also very little (N), for this reason these make ideal places to take clones,
many reasons may exist for this to occur,
as a grower you are to stay sharp and take appropriate action...
which you have done,
tho you may consider cloning it ..?
I'd guess it was a situation in the roots ...
laterals often show roots issues, such as this

Vostok, I cant clone the branch in question since I had already cut it off. Its 7 weeks into flower and I already have a mother for this strain so I wouldn't see the benefit of doing that. The plant is in smartpots which I understand to be better for roots. I am starting to think the length of the branch played a role....it came from the bottom of the plant, even though it was a rather thick branch for a lower and made its way up to the canopy maybe the branch was too long to accommodate efficient nutrient transfer.

I once cut a clone that exhibited some similar behavior. The clone was the second cutting from a stem, so it was essentially topped before rooting. The resulting plant had two main stems instead of one, and each stem was a different phenotype. One stem was clearly female, and the other was either totally male or went hermie with strong male characteristics (I didn't wait long enough to find out). Hormones play a huge role in gene expression. Smart move to nip that sucker.
