Hello, just a quick question. I've made the jump to LED lighting but am wondering if in my 4x4 area a 600 watt LED would be better for my scrog, or two 300 watt LED's would be better? I am currently using a 300 watt for veg/clones. With my scrog, light penetration isn't so important to me, better overall coverage is. Opinions welcome, experience warmly welcomed.

2X 300W since you should have a nice even canopy so want spread out light now high intensity.
If they are quality LEDs 2X 300W real Watt draw will be enough. If they are Chinese advertised Watt then thats more like only 150W.

Thanks for your reply, for the area I'm trying to cover what would you suggest?
I grew one plant with 1000w of LED before I had what was advertised as 500w the 500w plant looked like shit, then I started hanging out here and found out you should usually double the wattage on what is advertised for LEDs any way the purple cheese I grew after doubling the light be like

and that is just one plant...if you are going all LED then get at least 1kw

I very much appreciate this information, and took it very seriously. So seriously in fact, that I ordered a 1200 watt diamond LED this evening. Thank you.

Few things of note that iv learnt from this LED grow.
Even tho LEDs run cooler they still have a optimum distance. Growth was slow with these LEDs at anything closer then 18 inch from top. Further away and Lux drops off very fast.
Be ready to fight a cal and mag deficiency. I give low dose of cal-mag+ every watering. During Veg needed to give a strong dose or they would slow right down.
Water less often, Since it runs cooler your plants drink a lot less and less evaporates
.
And most importantly be ready for doubters, Theres a few members on here that will say all LEDs are rubbish and wont grow anything even tho there's so much proof they will.
And like wise they tend to say the same thing about giving cal-mag and that LED bleaching is a myth.

Thank you all for your input, I have been growing under HPS for years. I've found that there is still a lot of debate about LED's, but instead of listening to the hype I plan on doing my own research. Again all the feedback is appreciated, and hell if it don't work out, I'll break the the HID's back out.

As far as the cal-mag goes, I've been reading the same thing. I'm growing in coco so that's an item I keep close to me already.
