Once a plant is flowering can you take clones?

Can you take trimmings and make clones from a plant that is in flowering stage?
I would think that because the plant is in flowing the trimmings would try to flower also and end in total fail.
Is that correct?

I think it is probably best to take clones in veg. But I have taken clones a couple of weeks into flower with no problems. I would think the clones would root and return to veg under lights, but maybe someone with more experience cloning later into flower will show up with better advice.

and you would be stressing the host plant during its flowering period, surely hindering production.

My attempts at cloning during flowering have not ever been really worth while. Takes forever to revert to veg.
Cheaper and easier to buy a new clone. Even popping beans is faster then a flower re veg.

So you can...but do you really want to ?

Yes, you can take clones in flower. I've done it with plants 5 weeks flowering. They take a bit to get going but, once they do they crank! They kind of look like they are revegging but, the new growth is amazing. Muck denser than a normal veg taken clone. Go for it!

I have taken clones in flower, if you do this, you have two options:
1] - Leave the new clone in 12/12 and the little branch you cloned, will turn into a nice little plant in 9-10 weeks…
2] - Put clone back into 18/6 or 24/0 and re-veg her…
You will get some weird/strange growth, grow it as long as you like [stress] and then put it back into bud…

It’s really not a problem, and 21 days into bud, IDK, I think I have taken clones after that time in the past…
Personally, I try to clone “ALL” the little bottom branches, that give only small buds…
Either way you clone, you prob will get some weird growth…be ready for that.
Cloning in veg, I get around 95% never 100%, once in a while one dies...
Cloning the last time in Bud, I got 3 of 4 to root, re vegged them, and grew them out... disapointed in yield, learned lesson, clone in veg...
Good Luck!
