hey guys im going to do a small closet grow with a couple plants under cfls. There is no way to have an exhaust in the closet so i don't think i can really use a carbon filter...i'm wondering if the ONA gel would be able to get rid of the smell instead? Also i have one of those air Ionisers which i got the other day, a small portable one and i plan on maybe getting more because it seems to work good. Any input welcome, thanks.

The ONA will only mask the smell... Your place will still smell, it will just smell like ONA (and a little bit of weed).

I just bought an Ona Breeze that fits on top of the Ona Gel can after my cheap ozone generator burnt out. So far Ive been impressed. Im 7 weeks into flowering with SnowDog and Jack The Ripper. Cant smell em.

For a small grow, ONA could replace a carbon filter. It masks odor so you'll need enough ONA to match your odor level.

The only problem with ONA gel is you have to replace it relatively often (every month or two) which can get expensive. However, I've seen other people use ONA gel for small grows and it worked great.

Anybody know the difference between the ONA "gel" and the ONA "block" which one works better? and what about the other types?

Ona can cover up smells of small grows that are pretty contained...But for larger grows in more open environments, you'll need a combo of carbon filter and Ona to do the job.

I can understand not wanting to shell out big bucks for an industrial Carbon filter (CarbonAire, etc) But theres cheaper alternatives...you can make your own carbon filter (lots of DIY-Carbon Filter threads and videos)....But theres also a product called Odor-Sok. Its a cheaper version of a carbon filter, and utilizes carbon-impregnated fibers. Theyre like $40, and work well with most small-medium sized grows. But even then id use Ona with them.

The ONA block lasts longer, but is less intense...The gel can be utilized in different environments...and it can even be spread on things and areas (if you're so inclined to spread gel on your grow area) but be careful as to not put any ONA near your plants, or in your grow area, as they can affect smell/taste of your final product.

There is an inexpensive plug-in activated carbon filtration device marketed by Febreze, called the TrueAir. These are sold at lots of places, including Target stores; although you should be able to find it and replacement filters for much cheaper on Amazon than in any store. These devices feature an 'indicator strip' to inform you when you should change the filter, but it only works by absorbing ink slowly over time. They say those filters could last four months or longer, but for your purposes you should probably change it every month to every other month.

I have used these in the past for small closet grows, as well as to help deodorize pet areas and as far as I remember it was adequately effective. It would be ideal for use in conjunction with a room freshener.

Whatever you do just keep in mind that it can be difficult to judge for yourself the full extent of odor inside your own room/house. To enhance your perception of any potential odors it helps to be outside of your home for some extended period of time and re-enter from outdoor fresh air. Utilize a second nose from somebody you trust, if possible. Otherwise pay careful attention to reaction from guests that don't need to know what you're growing.

Good to hear. I just got a 1litre jar of the Ona Fresh Linen Gel. Gonna make up the DIY fan in bucket thang. Just wondering how much of the gel should be used with only one plant in a closet that is about 3ft deep X 5ft long and about 8ft high.

I keep two fans going in the room but nothing attached to the jar. Just let it breath like an air freshener.
