I have a 400 watt and want to start a sea of green and get a 1000 watt. I was wondering whether those 2 combined would equal enough heat for any unwanted attention?
Anything is helpful thanks

they cant see through walls, dont exhaust anywhere that they can see it. they are supposed to have a warrant to check your stuff anyways. they also have infared blocking stuff at dro stores, it just keeps the heat in. make sure you cool your lights and keep your exhaust in your house or under it, or in your attic. check nevergetbusted.com n all the forums over there, lots of infa-red stuff. you should be straight though, just dont tell anybody about it. I have sheriff choppers over my place like 5 times a day doin there usual runs n have a real nice F.L.I.R. camera on them, so far no knocks or anything. only have 2 600's though. but thats only 200 more watts than what youll have. I am also in a small place. my spot prolly glows real nice. They cant tell if its a dryer, oven, or anything. your allowed to have lights in your house anyways to grow whatever you want. no worries. if anything I would worry about my posts and my i.p. address so I use a proxy server

ACTUALLLY *clears throat*

i was watching tv and it was a show called "TOP 10 CRAZIEST DEA BUSTS"

well anyways one of the bust the cops took their chopper and flew over this guys house and used their thermal camera and noticed that this guys house LIT UP like it was christmas they said. they also said that this house looked like NO other house on the street.

the cops said they had a search warrant to look at the house with a helicopter and thermal camera. they then got a warrant to search the house and found an insane grow up with 100's of thousands in cash, guns, plants

i'm sure one 1000 wont do much but i believe this guy used his entire second floor of his house for growing

Dont be too foolish to belive that flir cant detect heat through the walls. In fact there are now home inspectors that use flir technology to detect everything from mold to water damage to electrical behind walls without entering into the wall. Heres the thing, there are a lot of grow ops out there and the best thing to do is to take steps above everyone else. Polyshield or radiant barrier, stops the heat from bleeding out though your walls, use no exhaust, use water cooled air condition and scrub the air in your house with a charcoal filter. You create a closed loop system that doesnt need to be vented but you will need to add co2 to the air. Supernatural naturients makes co2 pucks that also kill mold as well and cost about 2 dollars a day for a 10 x 10 room. Ever since I used poly shield I have had no problems, some friends of mine set up 2 layers to be extra safe. Try to use a basement room, never use an attic.

A layer had the riot team at his front door because their helicopter detected a heater in his garage for keeping hampsters warm. They can detect an awful lot, but it's at what stage they accumulate enough evidence for a warrant, or whether the signature is of an odd enough variety that it warrans further investigation into the property.

Also consider this, my oven is a 3kw job, so a very small affair, but that thing is designed with nothing but intense heat in mind, that heat has to go somewhere during and after cooking. In the winter i can cook something and leave the oven door open afterwards, that'll heat the flat for an hour or so to a very comfortable temperature :)

wrong wrong wrong.

they don't fly around scanning rooftops. that was possible in the past when fuel wasn't so expensive. now police have to be smarter with their operations.

helicopters are mostly used for spotting OUTSIDE grows.

what gets people busted the most is .........SNITCHES.

yep. the police get a tip and do a bust. that's how it works. then they try to strongarm who they busted to get to the next guy. snitches.

don't want to get caught?? don't talk about how you are planning on running a 1400 watt grow op online is the first thing.

tor won't save you if you cannot follow the most basic rule, don't talk about your grow. ever.

It is totally location dependent. Where i live the helicopter is out randomly scanning every other night. Hell, i was sat watching a cannabis documentary and the next thing i knew my roof with a grow beneath it was on the television, scared the shit out of me at the time, even if it wasn't a live broadcast.

the helicopter in the air isn't scanning with IR for grow ops. it's in the air as air support probably b/c you don't live in a great area of town...

too expensive and not worth it. i'd be more scared of a random van parked down the street than of a helicopter scannign rooftops....

what they do use is strong arm tactics. charge who they think looks like a putz with the harshest crime they can get away with, in order to scare them into flipping.

you ever seen the show DEA??? i mean, of course it would make great tv to ride along a military style air campaign scanning the rooftops, very dramatic scenes... but they just don't do it....

they scare idiots into turnign somebody in.... snitches.... assholes...

Like you said.. Fuel is expensive.. The best way to deal with that is to totally deck those helos out so they can multi-task.. I know snitches/dumbasses are a great favor to the LEO's, but aside from that how do you think they decide where to park those vans (which are usually not vans at all, rather more discreet vehicles)??

I dunno. I'm not exactly sure why anybody would need 40-50 plants or so for personal consumption. Seems like one or two plants every few months would be a good bit. A very small set up would probably not change the air temperature in a room more than a degree or two. But then one person's plenty for a couple of months might be another person's three day weekend. Like the Cheech and Chong skit: Q: How many joints are in a lid? A: Two. I roll big big joints.

You are correct as far as quanity goes, but the heat signature there will depend on the setup to some extent.. If you have a 175W HID too close to the exit of your ventilation system then it could appear to be nearly the same as alot more lights set up much more discreetly.. That said,, you'd have to be really dumb, or growing really stinky plants under a destructive amount of light to resemble that..
