my friend ordered some god's gift seeds and he gave 3 of them to me.
i was going to germinate them and plant them in some cups under a 2700k cfl, but while i was germinating something horrible happened, and i have no idea why.

about 3 days ago i put 3 seeds into a moist paper towl and them in a plastic bag and closed it. i then placed the plastic bag in my garage and placed that 2700k cfl about 4 inches from the bag. i left the light the whole time the bags been in there.

today i decided to open the bag and check to see if they'd started to grow, but THEY HAD MOLD ON THEM. there was a thin layer of some type of white mold over my 2 seeds, and the other is just sitting there.
i was wondering what the problem could be...

and since this was my first time germinating seeds, does that mean my first grow was a failure?

its still just 3 seeds, like they havnt sprouted or anything, and the 2 seeds with mold on them have it all over. im pretty sure i should threw them out and start a new batch of seeds. i have 15 other seeds i need to start anyways.

put seeds in a cup of water over night then plant them in soil the next day and wait another day or 2 and you will have seedlings keep em warm

Next time get them moist , place in paper towel, fold towel up. Place in plastic bag and place it in a DARK, WARM place. like on top of a TV set in the dark, or in a cupboard by the refrigerator or on top of it. Point is you want conditions WARM and DARK and MOIST. Once the little white tap roots pop out of the seed, plant them root down 1 inch under loosely packed soil. Good Luck!

Your garage gets what? 50F overnight? the CFl puts out about 0 degrees of heat 4 inches away, so I would say try again inside with no light. Someplace that is around 80-90F all the time.

dont use a light its causing the mold, i just put mine in a bowl with a paper towel at the bottom and some saran wrap on top and then a dark peice of paper or a book and i have had 100% germination this way.

well they have a 2700k cfl over them
as warm as that gets?
how warm is the ambiant room temp. when you try to germ seeds in some useless way that only makes it more complicated your creating the perfect environment for mold too grow, my guess your leaving em in a cold garage wet and wraped up, 1 get strrafoam cup poke drain holes fill with soil plant seed cover with seran wrap keep em warm no need to pre germ just makes somthin simple hard

never use lights when germinating, the seeds dont need light for germination. all they need is warmth, darkness and moistness. i got a little plastic container with a lid and got two paper towels and wet them then rung them out a little so they wernt sopping wet. then i took one and folded it till it fit in the bottom of the container and put the seed on top and then took the other wet paper towel and folded it and put it on top. covered the container and put it in my guitar case cuz its warm lol and germination went perfect. good luck! :weed:
