Old Timer's first time.....

So today I just added a couple gallons of ph'd h20. Keeping the level high on the baskets waiting for the ms3 to get down farther in the net cups. Rosemary is getting pretty bushy for 8" tall. I figure another week and the screen is gonna go in. I plan to take time and weave it all full....
had some issues with my scrubber today so I cut it out and built a new one with an easier design. Made out of a 3.5 gal bucket, screen, a 4" pvc pipe, and alot of carbon. Airflow is so good I took off the intake fan. Holds 79f easy now

ph 5.83 amb 65f
e.c 1.8 box 79f
tds 450 rh 57% getting lush in there!
Looks like I def missed the FIM on most of them.
I grew this strain in a phototron as something to look at. Came back from a vacation to it yellow and in need. Wih proper nutes it stopped at 22" It gave me a little under an oz of super dense, tight, sticky bud. I figured my co2 in garage from furnace gave it a hell of a boost. Now in a bigger box with less cfl light than the phototron had, but all the new LEDs, it looks to be an ounce plus easy. 6 outta 8 of my plants in the big box are this strain. I'm scared to see what it'll produce.

So it's sunday....3weeks into veg.....just tied 6 outta 8 over and down pre-training for my screen.....most bent willingly, but one seemed to shift the rockwool cube in the net pot....stalks are pretty beefy....Ms3 growng steadly, but def behind in root production....

amb 66
box 83.5 fan just kicked on
h20 68.8
ph 6.01

Been running half strength since they hit the box. Decided to run thru my backup res of pd'd water before I change tank/nutes. got about 30 gal to go.

Saw something interesting this a.m. I turned off my flouros(which had ust come on at 6am to check my led glow. My bushiest rosemary had a wet leaf. I had not done anything yet so this puzzled me. It was slightly sticky, clear, extremely ganji in smell, and slightly bitter/sweet. It only covered a square inch. Any ideas. Stigmata?????

I tied the rosemary over on sunday tied to nails inserted in side of tank insulation. I swear it grew 2 inches overnight. People whose oppinion I value have seen what I am doing and are def amazed at my progress. Clones same as mine in dirt with 1000 mh are half the size of mine sitting in 54 gal of bubbly water with 8 t5 flouros and a shitload of LED.....

This is so much fun!

So here a few of my homemade ultrasonic floating mister setup. The fresh air inlet with dryer hose.pushes thru the pipe in the center to the oher reservoir(2 27 gal tanks). If you take the lid off you get the last pic. The idea was to seal off the tops of the netpots and let the fog feed the air roots. Will be getting better root shots this weekend!

i don't get how foggers work... might have to search, eh?
recommended...any roots hanging in the air get fed a fine mist (5 micons)...they say if keeps your h20 free(er) of pathogens. before my roots even hit the water they were fuzzy and furry from being fed by this. as soon as my runts play catch up I will be dropping the level down and the mister will really come in handy. Might have to tweek it abit for flow. you can build a nutramist system for yourself cheaply. I made one out of a 5"x18" plastic cylinder, muffin fan, and an abs sewer cleanout. (home depot is dangerously close to my house) I would fill the cylinder of my res. run it till it shut itself off from lack of h20 1gal/24hr +/- and repeat....decided to float it in my res after awhile. needs an auto fill valve to complete, but hey....this is my first time:mrgreen:

If you can design a setup like that, Don't worry, you wont have any problems.I'll be watchin' this grow.I like the leds. I'm in the sign business and we use those in big full color display signs..... I just harvested one of my clones tonight. Check out my thread. Scrog setup in an attic.

I examined the roots of my two smaller plants. Both have extremely long tap roots, but side roots haven't really busted out of the sides of the net pots yet. Meanwhile, the others have exploded with roots. The pic below shows my bushiest's roots at 3 weeks old. Earlier I had brought the h2o level up halfway on the net pots for my two sxtrugglers. The addition of the 4" airstones with dedicated lines for each pot (2 quad air pumps), the growth exploded. MS3 is doing lovely and as said earlier the tap roots have extended from my laggers 12". where 1 week ago, 1 had barely grown roots beyond what they had when I received the clones. I am running a hybrid DWC system, and it is my first attempt at growing.
So my question is, should I start to let the water level fall below the net pots as stated in many FAQs. Now because of an intake fan blowing across my reservoirs (and any roots not in h20) I am worried about drying them out. I am using an ultrasonic mister, but only 1.5 hrs every 4. Coinciding with two pumps that circulate h20 between my two 27gal reservoirs
(see prev posts for pix of fogger setup).
If I leave all running, my h20 temps rise over 70. I won't allow that. I didn't want to run the mister 24/7 (to save its lifespan), but I will if I have to. I guess what I need to know is will the exposed roots be ok? should I run the mister 24/7 to prevent drying out? what should I look for as far as problems go? I understand the whole brown slimy root thing. what about in the plant itself?

Not really a serious issue as I don't seem to really have a problem, but an ounce of prevention now, might yield me a pound or more later:mrgreen:

Add 2oz of ph down tonight after adding close to 10gal. Pumps and mister ran for 2.5 hours and targeted 5.82ph.....either I am lucky, or this box has become self aware....It is seriously out of control!!!!! (don't worry jd9, I'm not scurred of em!)
Added 24 tsp of nutes as well. EC had dropped to 1.4. aiming for 1.8. That was only half of directed dose. refill res is almost done, so maybe on sunday a tank change, maybe next week. Am gonna try to fill from the bottom drain this time, and push the water in. My xfr pump says it can handle it. Screen def going in this weekend. After seeing 42047's scrog pix, I am beginning to think that my 2"x2" will be too small....

I'm tired, and ripped....g'night all

Been training the beasts back waiting for the smaller ones to catch up, growing straight up. I noticed my plants had some heavy condensation on them at night, under the leds. The plants def get a rest at night, but still boosted by all the LEDs. Box stays at 69f with the flouros off at night. Turned the circ fans back on 24/7 to keep the nasties away. Inspction in the AM has the plant standing tall.

I was sceptical of my LED panels, but I must admit, the plants closest to the panels are EXPLODING!!!!! Oh the humanity!

Some pix below

1) 2 dif strains/ same age.....which should I continue with next time?
2) A proper FIM job.
3) same shot from above a few days later
4) nighttime w/LED and flash

some pix showing dif tween the middle and sides. Notice even with two smallest that the one closest to the panel is bigger. In actuality that was the one that was doing the worse of the two when I got them.

It's 4/19....I'm getting started early....
