Hey everybody. This is a great forum and I've learned some good helps from lurkin' aroundand reading up. Thanks to all who post their experiences with the wonder-plant that gives us so much!
I'm doing my first hydro grow after 5 years in soil, (Fox Farm soil and nutes). I got a great deal on a GH aeroflo 20 so I'm giving it a go. I'm loving it so far. The unit, and the aeroponics method has really helped me maintain a more efficent grow room, with a more efficent attitude towards growing in general.
I'm using Gh 3 part nutes, mixing at about 50%-70% strength. Because this grow is my first I didnt fill all 20 ports in the chambers as i thougt I could run into problems while getting my feet "wet" and i didnt want to ruin a good strain.
I got four females out of a pack of ten Pure Power Plant beans from Gypsy Nirvana (Yay!) haha. I vegged them in DWC buckets. I took the clones before I sexed them while in their bubblers as i didnt know how much root tangleing would take place if I put em in the aeroflo and i didnt want to rip out roots while taking out the males. I then transplanted the Moms into the chambers to flower them.( I still was on a test grow mode or else i would have saved a Mom). The clones rooted in a humi-dome then in bubblers.
The moms flowered nicely, ( I thought), but at day 80, 8 weeks, I had mainly clear trichs with some cloudy and few amber but the buds were fat and dense with huge swollen calyxes. I went ahead and picked em because (my excuse here....) the clones were getting big and I didnt want them to get too tall in flower and burn under the heat.
This became my first lesson on how important flushing is, especially in a hydro application. Taste wasnt bad, or good, which was bad; and the buzz was less than i had hoped for, but still a headdie buzz.
NOW, the clones, six healthy girls, are fat, danky and starting to get gooey. Amber trichs at about 30% cloudy 60% the balence is turning cloudy.
About a month ago I got 10 female White Widow clones from a friend. They're rooted and now vibrant in the bubblers as i wait on the flowering girls to finish; Just like the last time! This time, however, I really want to wait for a two week water flush to finish, of which I'm on the third day.
My question , after this long ramble, is would it be okay to go ahead and transplant the Widows into the Aeroflo along with the finishing Power Plants? I can keep the roots seperate as one of the chambers is plantless anyway. It means that the new widows would be getting just fresh water (I would hope) for about two weeks before i would add nutes. And on the same note, would "Clearex" or any other chamber cleaning flushes damage the plants that will be taking place?
Thanks for staying through this story, and for any help and advice that I can use to keep in the "Grow"
Peace!
