Oil vs Bud

i have no pity for blind stupidity

BHO is easy and safe, if you know what your doing

so if you dont then dont do it very simple if you want to know then find out also very simple
The fact is that it isn't made safely. You can find numerous videos of kids running it through pvc and even metal tubes. People researching how to do it right see these videos and end up doing it wrong. Another fact is that most of us here are not chemists, and have no way of being completley sure that your oil is fully rid of butane. I use concentrates for medical reasons. The goal in california is to make the cleanest safest medicine possible. I've made my share of oil, and i still have my hands. But the fact is that accidents do happen while making it. Because of this all solvent extractions (whether done properly or not) are under the same scrutiny. I obviously agree that it can be done safely. But the reason i have decided not to do it is because of legal reasons, and the fact that i can't be sure that all of the butane is purged from the end product. My only reason for posting in this thread was to spread awareness about legalities to help out people who may not know the law. I didn't intend to start an argument, but i guess nowadays that is inevitable. Respect

NUMBER 1 RULE -OPEN ENVIRONMENT LOTS OF NATURAL AIR CIRCULATION, HAVEN NO ELECTRIC DEVISES OF ANY SORT NEAR BY, NO SMOKING OF ANY SORT, i do it in my garage and i turn off my breakers to the garage from the house first garage door( motorized door( open about 1ft and the door to garage open creating negative pressure, butane is heavy so it falls to the floor and then out garage door

dried grinded material frozen then placed in a glass tube with one open end and another small enough for a plastic attachment about 1/4 of centimeter big fill tube not tight but full with no pockets of unfilled tube, then you seel the other end useing a coffee and tip tie or rubber band or tape, needs to be tight, if small leak is present dont worry, wear safe gear think cloves i use oven mits with ceran wrap(plastic wrap) around em to stop any butane absorbtion into mits, find a pyrex dish preferably square , fill tube with approximetly 170ml up butane for every oz of product, when butane is done cover hole and wait till dripping stops

if any of this doesnt make sense never make BHO

simple, and simple

its true alot of people burn them selve or start fires but . . . ..

a lot of poeple die in car and a lot of people choke to death on food, or burn themselves cooking

shoud we stop doing these things to, driving eating, cooking

oh wait chew your food, learn how to drive and oh learn how to cook oh wierd

its easy
Would you agree with me that cannabis should be nationally legalized?

I'm sure you would. Now let me paint a picture of how voters that don't use cannabis see us. They see these media reports of BHO "labs" burning down apartment complexes, killing people, they see people loosing limbs and suffering burns. They hear the media compare pot to meth. This does nothing but hurt our purpose. This kind of bad rep is what is holding us back. Sure you and i know that pot and meth have nothing in common. But thats not what matters. As long as people promote solvent extracts there will be people doing it wrong and blowing shit up. Thus extending the hostility toward cannabis. You can make all of the random comparisons you want but these have nothing to do with the issue at hand. BHO brings a bad rap to cannabis. The fact that there is any danger at all in making it is reason enough to not make it.

i dont bend my life to the ignorant or naive

its called integrity

the second you start making excuses why people dont know MJ is a miracle plant or that bho isnt dangerous, then everything else is excusable too

thats not the point is it?because they dont compare those things to a meth lab.

Isn't this the heart of the problem?? A lot of people don't know that cannabis is helpful... We as cannabis users need to show that it isn't dangerous, to prove that folks misconcepcion of cannabis is from fabricated lies. You can't argue that this type of media isn't harmful to the perception of the cannabis plant.

its not excuses, its fact.why else do so many ppl have a problem with cannabis?ppl who dont wanna see cannabis legalized love those kinds of stories.and to scare ppl even more they'll say "imagine if your a mother with kids living next door to one of these BHO factorys,or above one in an apartment, you and your KIDS will be in danger"your home could be blown up or burnt down"they always over exaggerate things like that.

Next time do a little research before running your mouth.
that guy was not even arrested. there was no swat team. the hazmat were only called because there was an explosion. many people make bho safely without exploding anything. next time review your research before you make broad generalizations saying they are gonna come storm down your door because you are making bho. cmon you are taking this a little too far. there are also stories about grows that are busted because they start fires. this does not mean that the fire department are gonna storm down your door because you have an indoor grow. dude maybe you should stop smoking a bit. reality might do you a little good.

I think my point was made. You can make it what you will. If you want to believe that the authorities in your area could care less about this so be it, i won't tell you otherwise. I wish you the best bud! respect

ok ill lay out what you said to make it clear. first you make an erroneus prediction
All it takes is a nosy neighbor to peak over your fence and drop the dime, and you'll have HazMat and Swat at your door.
which you then persist without any evidence of such things actually happening:
And if you do get caught don't think that they won't pull out all of the stops. They are comparing butane extraction to meth labs. Links are all over google and all over the news about this "new kind of pot". They make the biggest fuss over everything they can, you reallly think they wouldn't call out hazmat for this??
and then you make another erroneus prediction based on your opinion again rather than actual facts:
The media spreads like aids. I don't doubt that BHO will be illegal in all states and they may even limit the amount of butane that you can purchase.
and then to back up your delusion you provide a link to a local news story about a guy who blew himself up while making bho. the guy was not even arrested by the police nor was the swat team called by a neighbor.

i dont know how you went from a story about a guy blowing himself up making bho to swat teams busting down people's doors because they are making bho in the backyard.

so what point were you making? that you fed into the media driven fear of as you stated "new kind of pot."

:wall:The video that you saw was shot the morning after this guy blew his garage up. The reason he wasn't arrested was because he was in the hospital. Gotta get fixed up before you can get locked up. And the point i'm trying to make is clear. BHO has given even more of a bad rap to cannabis and its users. Also i am spreading word to my fellow growers about Bho production being illegal in cali. Thats it. Whats with all the hostility? Nothing but respect

BHO is much healthier to ingest then ISO hash. ISO is absolute poison. Butane is relatively inert.

NEVER eat ISO hash! Smoking it will destroy much of the remaining alcohol in the hash (though you'll still ingest some), but even when vaporizing you'll ingest lots of poison.

One big advantage of BHO vs. buds (from a grower's perspective): a big batch of BHO (just a quick chop up) takes far less time to prepare then trimming each individual bud off the plant. Similarly, working with BHO to make edibles/tinctures is also easier and cleaner then working with trim or buds.
Isopropanol isn't poison (well isn't anymore of a poison than ethanol), it is safe for consumption but will get you drunk if you have enough (it's roughly as potent as ethanol by weight). The amount of residue contained in isohash isn't enough to do that if you consumed a pound of it. The residue can also be removed with a vacuum.
Butane however is toxic, fucking with lipid membranes. And it can also be removed by pulling a mild vacuum on it for awhile.
The main difference is that moderately polar solvents like IPA will also extract chlorphyl, while totally nonpolar solvents like butane only pull out oils and waxes.

another real winner here. here is some info on why you should not ingest iso from wikipedia:
Isopropyl alcohol is oxidized by the liver into acetone by alcohol dehydrogenase. Symptoms of isopropyl alcohol poisoning include flushing, headache, dizziness, CNS depression, nausea, vomiting, anesthesia, and coma. Poisoning can occur from ingestion, inhalation, or absorption; therefore, well-ventilated areas and protective gloves are recommended.
Isopropyl alcohol and its metabolite, acetone, act as central nervous system (CNS) depressants. Around 15 g of isopropyl alcohol can have a toxic effect on a 70 kg human if left untreated.[10] However, it is not nearly as toxic as methanol or ethylene glycol. Isopropyl alcohol does not cause an anion gap acidosis (in which as lowered blood serum pH causes depletion of bicarbonate anion) unlike ethanol and methanol. Isopropyl alcohol does however, produce an osmolal gap between the calculated and measured osmolalities of serum, as do the other alcohols. Overdoses may cause a fruity odor on the breath as a result of its metabolism to acetone, which is further metabolized to produce the nutrients acetate and glucose.[11]

where do you get this bullshit?
