I guess I've never really had many fucks to give about legality. Be smart about it and it doesn't usually matter what one does in their own home.

Well I know the thriving illicit market claim is false. Sounds more like a money making scheme created by the republicans.

Here in Washington legalization became commercialization real quick.. 2 billion last year in tax revenue..
Still illegal to grow here without a med card.. Mine expired in '17 I don't give a fuck!!

Same here in Canada. We went legal and dispos opened at a Starbucks level saturation rate. Many are shuttered now and some equilibrium has returned to the market thankfully after 7 years. Still think home cultivation rules here (4 plants per house) are archaic.

Theres no way they will pull homegrow, they wont get the majority vote

It's terrible, that these elected officials want to gut a bill that voters approved.

Here's an update from a republican in the house.

Rep. Jamie Callender (R) filed separate legislation that would make certain changes to the voter-approved legalization initiative—but it would maintain key components such as home cultivation.

On that issue, the lawmaker said the “middle ground is we do what the people voted and told us to do, which is six plants per person and 12 per household.”


“There has been some other legislation and proposals floating around that, in my opinion, have not respected the will of the voters real well, and I want to make sure that here in this chamber, the people’s house, that we carry out the will of the people—and the people have spoken,” he told The Toledo Blade.

Well, hopefully they either leave it as is and go from there or amend the taxes or whatever, but for God's sake and the people of Ohio, keep the home grow. I mean actually keep it, not limit it to where no one can grow based on implementing dumb rules and regulations. Some places can't even grow if there's a dispensary with 20 miles... but they're located every mile so folks can't grow

This is true, but knowing it's legal helps a lot of folks sleep better at night if I'm honest. I'm for doing something that others don't know about, legal or not, but when is legal the weight on your shoulders is a lot lighter! Come on 12/7!!

Lawmakers in the Ohio Senate want to allow the state's medical marijuana dispensaries to sell recreational marijuana to those 21 and older.

"We understand that we have to protect that access to products while also not allowing the black market to get a head start on the legal market," said Sen. Rob McColley, R-Napoleon. "It is our intention to allow the legal market to go into effect as soon as possible."

• Limit the number of marijuana plants to six per household, which is less than 12 permitted under Issue 2. The Senate previously proposed axing home grow entirely.
• Keep the maximum amount of THC at 35% for plant material and reduce it from 90% to 70% for extracts.
• Tax marijuana sales at 15% with the option of counties adding an additional 3% tax. An earlier proposal to tax cultivators was removed.
• Expunge convictions for possessing 2.5 ounces of marijuana or less.
