Oh no! What did I do???

I was going to start my 12/12 cycle this morning and went to turn off the light in my grow tent, no problem, realized about an hour later that the side vent was open which daylight was seeping through. I placed the closure over the vent, went about my business. I noticed a few minutes later I could smell the plants. I went into the room and 1/2 of the tent was collapsed. Two of the poles bent and the hood landed on one of the plants. Some details, I am using a 5X5X8 tent, 6" hood so you can get the picture. I rigged the poles back up and took note of the damage to the plants, it looks like just a few leaves fell off but one was loose at the base of the trunk. I added more soil to help prop it up better and gave it a gentle watering. My question is, if this plant isn't going to make it when will I know? I decided to leave the lights on today, to let them recover. Should I worry??? This is my first grow, I feel like a failure!

My god! It didn't want to let me post.
anyway, don't worry man. From what you described,
not that big of a deal.
Just try to keep the light consistent from now on,
and things should be fine.
Funny, almost the same thing happened to me today.
had to top a plant, that I wasn't going to top, because
i wasn't paying attention and snapped her 5" from the top.
I'm making my switch tomorrow now, and she's going
to be a mother plant now.

Sorry to hear that shit.. Ever figure out how the tent collapsed in the first place? You'll just have to wait it out.. You're lucky this happened now and not 6 weeks into flower when the buds could've been damaged.. If none of the branches broke and the plants are still standing I say you're in pretty good shape.

Puff.

Thanks guys! I think they look good, hard to say how it will be in a few days though, hopefully with the extra soil and TLC they will be fine. I will be crossing my fingers! I was a dumbass and closed the vent to the tent, I have an outside fan/filter setup so the suction caused the collapse. Do you think I should wait a few more days to start flowering or just go on as planned and shut her down in the morning?

Thanks for the reply, I think they will be fine, just need some reassurance. Glad you were able to make lemonade out of lemons in your situation! ;-)

Maybe it collapsed because you blocked the intake hole where light was coming in and the exhaust fan caused a vacuum which closed the tent in on itself? TLDR your post lol. Anyways maybe it was the same effect as if you take an empty soda bottle and suck all the air out and it collapses on itself.
