Oder control in 2x2x4 grow box

Hey guys wondering if a 4" carbon filter with 4" inline fan will be enough for a 2x2x4 grow box? I'll be doing 3 or 4 Auto Sour Livers from Mephisto which I heard are extremely dank smelling and in a mobile home. Also being there is negative pressure with the exhaust will it smell when I open the box during flowering and if so how do I handle that?

Yes a 4" fan and filter will be enough. Make sure you buy a proper fan and not some duct booster or some of the shitty fans that seem to be available ATM.
You keep the fan on all the time, you shouldn't get smell leaking out when you open the box, but if you start to manhandle the plants then you will stink and the smell will follow you around your home.
Wear gloves when pruning or training or otherwise handling them.
You cant get in a 2x2 tent so when it comes to harvest day your place is going to smell. You could buy a bigger tent for harvesting and trimming and just assemble it when you need it rigging up your fan and filter temporarily.

Does the exhaust fan / carbon filter ducting half to be routed outside the home or can it just be routed out of the box so it blows into the room being it has a carbon filter anyway? I'm assuming that is only the case if you have very hot lights to keep the room cooler? I don't really have a way to route it out of the entire room and out a chimney or something as I'd half to run it threw the entire home pretty much and don't feel comfortable cutting into the roof. Also is it ok to use pc fans for the incoming air into the box as long as there matching the cfm of the exhaust fan? I'm on a rather limited budget and I don't want to half to buy another quality inline fan and the small cheap metal ones are really noisy. Eventually I will upgrade everything but starting small.

No you don’t need an inlet fan/fans, yes you can, but you don’t have to. You still need an inlet, but most are “passive”, meaning they don’t have a fan. Most tents have a screened inlet, or two.
+1 on getting a “real” fan for the carbon filter, not an inline booster. I tried that, didn’t work, had to pay for an upgrade almost immediately. If you’re shopping online, 4” fans can be $45-75... check Amazon, $54 gets a decent one(now).
As far as where the venting goes, you don’t have to vent it outside. I ran my first run in a tiny closet, and vented into the bedroom. The bedroom had a window unit AC. You still want to exchange the air in that room too, that way you’re getting decent CO2 which your plants need.

Do research, ask questions, buy once, buy it right.

Thank you for all the help!

So venting out the house saves the room getting warmer and warmer with each pass the air makes through your tent, it also brings in new air as the old is expelled which maintains good co2 levels. This is super important with some folks who live in very hot countries but with a small grow like 3x3 or less you should be fine to route the hot air into the house and its been shown before that in the house co2 levels are in a good range to maintain a small grow without worry.

Thanks again Corey!

I find supplemental CO2 is a big+. Bottle with sugar water and yeast above canopy works fine.
