PTSD was made because people are a victim of something. Like rape or child molestation. Something they didn't expect. When you go to war you should not expect to come home. You're not a victim of war when you signed up and knew you'd go to war. There's a difference from being a victim and getting shit happen that's a possibility. a person who has been attacked, injured, robbed, or killed by someone else

: a person who is cheated or fooled by someone else

: someone or something that is harmed by an unpleasant event (such as an illness or accident..

By definition, anyone with ptsd Is a victim.

Right! And there are many deeper levels.

I look at it like this. You joined a fighting force during war. you're not a victim unless football players are victims of being tackled.

If you choose to go in to a haunted house during Halloween you expect to be scared....hell people pay more for the really creepy ones.
However when you walk out of the haunted house you don't get scared and expect to get a goblin jumping at you around every corner for the rest of your life.

Combat zones are like haunted houses. Usually people that bring the haunted house problems home just want attention or money. Tho, people who've suffered traumatic events in life such as rape and molestation do then associate the expected trauma of war to that victimization and are generally fucked up after combat. This has been studied and shown true. Combat zones are in distant far away lands. This allows the brain to appropriately disassociate from the combat zone just as leaving and driving away from the haunted house allows you to come back to reality.

It's been studied and well documented. We get great classes on this. This information will never suit the media so you won't hear about it unless you get classes on it or choose to study it. Only SOF guys I know playing the ptsd card do it because they think it's unfair that 90% of soldiers that never even seen battle but deployed and lived cozy with their PlayStation and Internet are getting it and making about 3k a month for the rest of their lives.

Just my .2 ct. Take it however you like or pick it apart from what you believe because you heard it on tv or you have military friends that tell stories. I'm just giving my experience and what I know by studies and being educated on it by professionals. Not the media

Anyway osamas trips to Afghanistan where he spoke to troops before elections. Yeah well he landed in Afghanistan got off the plane with many people in suits and walked in a guarded hanger.... Many people changed in to military uniforms and he gave his speech they applauded and got back in suits and back on the plane.
