So here's my journal...
It's gonna be very brief, many photos, but probably not so much text. We'll see though.

Difference between previous attempt (failed) and this attempt:

Germination:
Previous attempt - dunk in water
This time - paper towel

Lighting for seedlings:
Previous attempt - MH right off the bat
This time - CFL for a couple weeks

Pots:
Previous attempt - peat pots
This time - plastic party cups

* * *

Every aspect of the grow is equal for both plants. The only thing to keep in consideration right now is that they share the lighting.

Strain(s): Soma NYC Diesel, Flying Dutchmen White Widow
Medium: Soil/perlite
Lighting: 4x 42W + 1x 23W CFL for first two weeks, then 250W MH for remainder of veg, then 250W HPS for flowering
Nutes: N/A ATM

HEre's some photos. The one with the brighter, longer leaves is the NYC Diesel. The other is WW.

At 4 days.

Here's today,
I stopped counting the days, so I'm not sure how old they are, but given that on the 19th of November they were 4 days old, today they must be 12 days.

You can obviously tell which is which at this point by the leaf structure.
PS: I switched over to my 250W MH.

looking very good so far. i have some nycd flowering now. i think that you are going to love them. just don't let them get too tall before 12/12 or they will outgrow you. be prepared to supercrop if you don't have space for them

we are pretty much growing with the same stuff. 250mh for veg and 250hps for flowering. take a look at my forked top cola on one of my girls. its gonna be fun to see it mature!

good luck and i will be watching!

Sweet looking plants man.

Here's some pics I just took today.
Not sure if I'm posting photos too often (probably am lol) but these gals are growing soooo fast! Especially the WW!

How much longer do you think I should veg?
I have a restriction of about 4 feet (height) growspace and about a 2foot by 3.5-4 foot floor space.

nice! so do you just have one nycd and one white widow? or are there 4 total plants? i am loving nycd right now. i haven't smoked it before, but i have three girls on day 48 of flowering. they are looking awesome too. i started flowering when the nycd were just 9 inches tall and they definately outgrew my tent... i was forced to do a lot of supercropping and had to tie them down with fishing line in many places so if you started supercropping now it would be wise. they shoot up really fast so i just though i would give you a heads up. i will be watching your grow!

Thanks dude!

There's two plants total. I don't have space right now for any more and not really a need for it either, it's a personal grow.

Here's at day 39....
Do you think I should start flowering? I just re potted them two days ago and they're doing great.
They're bordering 9" tall right now. Hard to tell because when I re potted them I built the earth up a little bit around the base of the stem for support and so that the roots could support the plant.

So do you think I should flower yet or leave them veg some more?

HAPPY HOLIDAYS!

i started 12/12 on my nycd when they were just 9 inches tall and they grew 4 feet easily. be ready to i would supercrop them now to help keep them shorter, and be ready to supercrop them while they are flowering too

yes you can, its called super cropping if you actually pinch the stem the gently fold the stem in a downward way. the plant will bounce right back up the next day. it helps to even your canopy out. i expect you will see what i mean about 2-4 weeks into 12/12

here is how a super-cropped stem should look

good luck and i will be watching

They're doing nicely. Here's some photos.

The only problem I have is that I fucked up while I was super cropping and accidentally knocked the branches off, so I just used the opportunity to top them again, although it was a little too far down the stem for my liking.

Anyways, we'll see how the plant turns out.

The WW is doing brilliantly.

Hey thanks!

Unfortunately due to some light stress that went on here due to inconsiderate house mates, and also some physical stress from my poor topping, I strongly believe the NYCD has gone hermie. It's growing these clusters of balls where the single female pre flowers should be, and from what my other plant is showing, female pre flowers don't start off in clusters of balls.

I'll post some pics today and possibly get some opinions from you guys..

The WW is still doing great though, I think she's 20" now and has pre flowers everywhere. Looks like a totally single cola plant, it's not branching out at all, only some fan leaves.

Anyways, pics in a few hours, just woke up :)

So I cut down the NYCD today. It was definitely either not actually feminized or it hermied. There were clear pollen sacs at various locations on the plant.

Good news is the WW is still alive and well.

Here's some pics as promised.

She's 20" and has some 1 3/4" leaflets...
