Nutrients comparison

Hey everyone, I'm trying to decide what nutrients I wanna use this season. I'm going to grow a few different strains using ffof mixed with EWC, seabird guano, and kelp meal. I recently bought the fox farm trio but now I've been hearing this might not be the best choice. I've looked into Mega Crop (seems like the easiest to use), Nectar for the Gods (expensive), and the general organics kit. Any preference on using these nutrients, or a different type that may be better than all of these. Just looking for the best results with little complications. Thanks!!

I use Mega Crop. It's just too easy to use and my plants are loving it.

I love mega crop. I’ve used everything and finally settled on it for my grows.

Hey thanks for the response! How often do you water in mega crop? Is it everytime you water or just once or twice a week? Also do you use the bud explosion pk booster?

I don’t use boosters they’re just a gimmick. I’ve used it in hydro all my soil is my own super soil I build so I only water. If I were to use it in any other soil I’d do water, water, feed. I’m planning on using it in roots organic soil next run.

You should buy a big bag of Mega Crop, then throw it away too. It's the same junk as Fox Farm in dry form and some rando on the internet said it might not be the best choice. Let's face it, the optimal nutrient composition is the only thing standing between you and winning a Cannabis Cup. I wouldn't risk it, order the entire Advanced Nutrients line and keep it in your closet under a huge pile of stuff, just to be sure. The only choice is aquaponics, man. Get those tilapia working for you and if they aren't pumping out enough urine then eat 'em.

Aquaponics makes bud taste like bait.

I've been going back and forth between ffof and roots organic, I've heard better things about RO just a little more expensive

Used roots and fox farms. I used roots dry organic stuff still have a bunch. But given the price of 21 lbs of megacrop versus the price for each individual bag it comes out really cheap.

You should get a sample and run mega crop I think you pay 2 bucks or something and the sample it enough to see how you like it. Do a search there’s plenty of ppl here that have all switched over I was using veg+bloom before this and before that it was vegamatrix. Overall though I’m happy with the outcome,performance and price. I have a two big rooms to feed so it’s definitely a win in my books.

It doesn't matter what you buy, it's how you use it that matters, base nutes anyway. I like boosters but only because I'm lazy. You have to tailor your nutes to your strain or find a range that works for most, definitely they are overpriced gimmicks, but they do work, there's no real answer to your question.

Anything from the hydro store will work but youll pay for it

Some nutrients are more noob friendly then others.

The mega crop which i heard was more of a dry form of advanced nutes (idk about FF)

Should be ok for you as i know many here running it.

I considered it and went with hydro gardens and so far im pleased

At Home Depot, in Garden Center, they have Alaska Fish Plant Fert 5-1-1 and they also have Catalyst Earth Juice. My brother swears by this stuff, and it's very cheap. He uses it all during Veg and into flower. Catalyst Earth Juice will lower the PH of the water all you need, so you don't have to buy/use PH Down (soil). Both won't burn - and organic.

Cannabis needs 16 elements to grow. Carbon, hydrogen, and oxygen are supplied by air. The rest are not. I use Vitagrow a three part nutrient that is basically just repackaged calcium nitrate, monopotassium phosphate, and micronutrients. It provides everything a plant needs. It's a fraction of the price of most nutrient lines and grows beautiful plants. Nothing else is needed.

These are the plant nutrient requirements excluding carbon, hydrogen, and oxygen which is provided by air.

Macronutrients:
nitrogen
phoshphorus
potassium

Secondary nutrients:
calcium
magnesium
sulfur

Micronutrients:
boron
chlorine
copper
iron
manganese
molybdenum
zinc

As long as you provide these to your plants and give them a decent growing environment they will grow well. It really is that simple. You can buy into the hype and pay through the nose for a designer nutrient line and additives and deal with a dozen or so bottles of the same things I just listed watered down and put in shiny bottles with fancy labels. And then you are not guaranteed to grow decent plants. The Marijuana Plant Problems section of this forum is filled with people using designer nutrient lines and having nothing but problems, deficiencies, sick plants, etc... What you won't see in that section are people using inexpensive nutrients that provide all the plant needs. These would include VitaGrow, MegaCrop, Jacks Classic, etc... You never see people using these inexpensive nutrients posting problems. In fact all you're likely to see from people using these nutrients are pictures of beautiful healthy plants.

It probably tastes better than weed grown using the full line of AN and all their supplements. The fish is made from fish and the earth juice is made from oat bran, kelp, wheat malt, molasses, and yeast. Nothing there that would cause any weird tastes. Fish has been used as a fertilizer for thousands of years. I'd go this route before I'd plunk a bunch of money on some overpriced designer nutrient in a shiny bottle with a fancy label. And I have no doubt that I would grow better plants.

Absolutely not - I've given it to people and they have specifically said how great it taste. He grew very recently GELATO and it's been awesome --- I smoke it and the high last more than 4 hours, almost 5 hours. There is no weed I smoke that lasts 5 hours like this - and the taste is great. I'm not kidding - people love the taste.

Well - with regards to "Fancy Bottle". I use B-52 and my brother too. The stems are extremely thick.

As for "Vitagrow", how is stem, root and branch protection done? (Silicate)

Most harvest, most grows, most awards (Advanced Nutrients). Great website, great information, helpful and friendly people. I get the fact that old timers are a little jealous that new people are growing weed - it's not like 20 years ago when you had to do everything quietly. Now, you can go to a website, buy a tent/setup package, buy a nutrient package and even call them for support on the phone. Times have changed - but the old timers are in my opinion quite jealous that so many new people are growing weed - differently, but successfully.

Your statement "Nothing but" is far from true and a gross exaggeration. Very gross exaggeration. You aren't guaranteed to grow any plant properly since a lot of it has to do with Genetics.

Your post is interesting - but pretty much an exaggeration. There are 100's and 1000's of options of growing weed ... and many people mix things. But, people have problems with any and all growing styles because of so many factors. And again, you need to correct your statement about "nothing but problems" - as this is again, a gross exaggeration.

I hate people who exaggerate to make a point - they move so far away from the truth that it makes all the other stuff (which may be accurate and right) less convincing.

Attached are my plants (these clones are 20 days old!) using Advanced Nutrients. Nothing but problems - lol.

Vitagrow is about $70 for the three bottles ... doesn't seem all that much cheaper.

Root and branch protection? A healthy plant doesn't need root and branch protection. Silicon is not one of the essential elements for plant growth and there is likely more than enough present in growing media, water, and as a contaminate in fertilizers. I don't need to add any additional stuff.
