alright im gonna be starting my first grow here in about a week or two, im still debating what supplier to go with for my nutrients, now what i want is a general list of the important ones i should pick up, just incase my plants where to have certain deficiencies i want to make sure i have whats needed cause theres no local hydro store near me, also things that will help boost overal health of the plant, what things should i grab besides the nutrients, calmag, foilar spray ect ? all the help i can get would be great

List So Far:

Advanced Nutrients- very popular and high end nutes expensive
General Hydroponics- very good also not as expensive and a little more for begginning to intermediate growers

depends on how many plants you have and how much nutrient you require a quart could go in a week or a month just depends

well for my first start ill be looking to do between 8-12 plants, not sure if that will give you an idea on how much nutes i should grab to start

I've used the FF nutrients+solubles (cha-ching, open sesame, & beastie bloomz) & it nuked the shit out of my plants because of how strong those nutes are. I have said this time & time again that if you choose to go with FF, use everything at half strength or the following recipe I dug up on MJPassion.com:
I learned the hard way that the FF chart given with the nutes is no good for most strains and will burn, kill, most plants specially in their early stages, so I decided to experiment with varius levels of nute strengh, and found that this chart works the best for all the strains that it was tested on, I use tap water because my tap water has a low ppm.

This chart is a very safe chart to go by, no worries on over feeding the plants, wich can cause some serious problems either right away or long term, it has an initial ec that is low, then moderate, then high.

This chart is for a 4 wk vegge period and an 8 wk flowering period, if you were to use this chart, and vegge longer than 4 wk's all you need to to is continue following the chart as it goes into the flowering chart but continue to use the grow big, versus the tiger bloom, that's all, very simple, and dont use the solubles, the solubles are for flowering only.

If you flower for more than 8 wk's all that you need to do is continue following the chart from wk 12.

Has the ec is raised the ph will remain more and more stable, I recomend using distiled water, for the first 2 to 3 wk's of the plants life then tap water can be used IF the ppm is not to high, if the ppm in your tap water is high either cut back on the nute solution on this chart by 1,25ml per galon, or continue to use distiled water or RO water.

I also recomend using 1/2 cup of hydrogen peroxide for every 20 galons of water twice a wk ( every 4 days) I found it helps keep the roots nice and clean.

1 Tsp = 5ml
1 Tbp = 14ml

Starting seed or clone:
Grow Big- 1.25ml galon
Big Bloom- 2.5ml galon

This chart starts once the seedlings are 1 wk old from seed, or clones are 1 wk old.

I'm now having far better success using The Lucas Formula with General Hydroponics for my patient who bought me the nutes on a budget. Along with the nutrients you have to invest in a good meter to monitor your PH & PPM's. You can get a good combo meter or use 2 separate ones but either way you're going to need to get some calibration solution to ensure your meters are staying accurate. :D

Growing 8-12 plants is pretty basic and depending on the strains will determine the amount you use and also the levels of ppm and ph. From what i have seen with like Greenhouse Seed vids is that sativa dominant strains can use much higher levels of nutes because of the amount of cannabinoids is so high in comparison to most indicas but it will not vary greatly generally sativas at their peak can use around 1200 ppm and a slightly high ph around 6.2 at the highest and the high ph helps with the intake of nutes.

Pete has a very accurate chart and that will work excellently with those nutes but if you go with a diff set of nutes the best advice i can give is to use a little bit less than the recommended dose that is there because most of the nutes dont target Cannabis plants since it is illegal to sell anything that is for Cannabis (lame!) but the reason you should go less than what they say is because it is easier to add a bit of nutes if there is a deficiency and harder to lower it after you nuke them like Pete pointed out happened to him.

Also remember that you have to flush the medium of your plants meaning you should use plain water with a ph of around 5.5 to 5.8 and no nutes you should do this once a week most people like to do it on sundays as long as you stick with one day really some people like to measure the ph and ppm of the water that comes out because it has the salt build up and you can see how much your plants are using if you need to bump it up or go a little easy on the nutes.

Definately get some ph and ppm readers you need ph more than ppm if you tight on money ph is intensely crucial it can make or break your plants really but i think i posted plenty of info any more q's get back to me ill keep checkin to see if you got more q's post some pics too of your setup and nutes and everything

Peace and Prosperity to you
