Nutrient Burn Question

Hi there, I am growing my plants and want to know about how long nutrients linger in the ground. I gave the plants a good dose of nutrient burn which affected the bottom leaves. I then laid off the nutrients for a couple of days and then proceeded to give them another dose of nutrient burn. I want to know how long this will affect the plants, they have not been fed for 3 days now and this morning when I checked on them the leaves slightly higher up are begining to show signs of burn.

How long should the overload of nutrients take to be absorbed from the soil i'm using? Or could it be anotehr problem altogether....

Right, well I have flushed the soil a few times already, that wasn't too much help. When should I start feeding them again??
