Nutes help

So really what you're saying is mj doesn't actually eat very much.

Ok let's assume I had 30 day soil, and wanted to veg for another 30 days.
My nutes are 15-5-5 instructions say to use 7 drops per litre.
Following 7 drops per litre instructions, will give me 15-5-5?

So I should use 2.5 drops to get a 3-1-1 ratio instead?

Also nothing really talks about cal/mag.
Is that less concerning, or can you poison a plant with that also?

Thanks for the thorough info Dr. Who

I'd like to use a better medium for the next plants.. Ill need to replant the seedlings in a couple weeks.

What do to recommend? I see a lot of coco coir /perlite mix as being one of the better ways to go.

I've only been checking out the products available at Lowe's, home depot, and Walmart, as well as Amazon.
Of the 4, they don't seem to have what I think I'm looking for.

Theres a few garden centre plant nursery type places, and 2 hydroponic stores nearby.
Unfortunately they have lousy websites, so I'll have to go in person to see what's available.

I can't believe the stretch I'm getting from her so far. And how fast pistils are growing too.
I'm lucky to be having such a positive experience so far
I use Shultz All Purpose 20-20-20 bought at Menards. Absolutely do not use the 10-54-10. I am starting week 5 from flip tomorrow and just discovered a P tox from using it at 1/4 strength! Just flushed my 5 gal buckets with 1.5 gal pure r/o water today to flush all salts. Going to wait a few days to watch then stick back with 1/2 what I used during veg.

Yea that's exactly what happened.

I LST my plant to one side, then tied each of the new branches down. As they grew, the 8 branches became significantly different heights and their leaves were smothering the other bud sites.

So I was turning the plant trying to ensure light was getting where it needed, and didn't notice one of the turns shoved a leaf into a cfl lol

When I looked at the plant a bit later I saw what I did and gasped. Then fixed it.

I actually just tied all the branches down again since the stretch forced me to raise my lights all the way up in my little box..
So now the canopy is more even at the top, and the bud sites are all under more direct light.

It's been growing nice since flowering.
It was about 8" tall when I transitioned to 12/12, 3 weeks ago, and now it's about 13" tall.

Yours is bigger :(

I didn't have enough bulbs initially, so my plants didn't grow as much as fast in the beginning. I went from one 450 lumen bulb to three 1600 lumen bulbs, to four, to eight.

I dunno how much bigger the plant would have gotten if I had the right bulbs from the start.

Depends on the strain

Um, your math is off. You need to use 1/5th of the 7 drops.... Divide 7 by 5 = 1.4 drops.

Also nothing really talks about cal/mag.

RO requires the use of a Ca/Mg - So does Coco! In RO it's added as a "buffer" to the water. That helps stabilize pH adjusting or the ability of the soil to self pH - properly.

Too much Ca is bad too. You'll see it effect the pH ans all sorts of problems come from that. Properly limed soils do not need "extra" Ca. RO is still buffered with soil use - before adding nutrients and at less then hydro amounts. I found that by doing this. I get better recovery from the swing in pH from watering while using synthetics.

The use of Ca in RO while doing organic water only. Is not needed.

You're welcome.

Coco is NOT soil! Neither is PRO MIX or Sunshine mix!

Each of these bring new issues to the table. The biggest one, is that your now running hydro style soilless. All hydro rules now apply and each has their own added issues.....Go for real soil - learn to build it if you care.

If you go to FF soils.... Add a good heaping 1/2 cup of Dolomite lime to the whole bag and mix well. They tend to be light on Ca and Mg in the long run....

I vegged with a 4' 8 tube T5 HO for 60 days. I then added the 2 4' 2 tube T8's and the 2 64 true w cfl bulbs when I flipped. I am running 688 true w of flouro.

You're right. My math was off lol
That's rare for me to miscalculate. Thanks for catching it

At least it seems Im getting the theory.

And I totally understand why one of my seedlings has severe nutrient burn :P
(testing)

OH

Why don't you flush the plants by the way?

EVERYTHING I've read that mentions flushing says it tastes bad if you don't.
That's not true?

When I can afford it im getting a 450w LED light. Allegedly operates at like 140 watts.

Currently I have just the 8 cfl. 344 total watts according to the package :P

Accumulation is a slow process

I hear that! Make sure your calculating true wats vs equivelant wats. A 150w replacement bulb is only around 26w I believe. My 300w equivelant cfl bulbs are only 64 true w. And those are the big ones in the pics.

Lots of good info covered here, my suggestion only would be get some flat white paint for the inside of any enclosure if on a budget that will help reflect some lumens back to the plants and more efficiently use every bit of light available.
