Noxious Smell coming from Ballast?? WTF!?

I have a brand new 1000W MH/HPS ballast, and I have never used a MH in my house but I did use one elsewhere before. Well, I'm all fucked up right now because the ENTIRE ROOM next to my grow stinks of like nasty ass chemicals because I have that one single ballast running in it, and we are talking about a 15X10 room, at the very least, with a small porter window open.

It smells awful, and I get the sense that it could be dangerous, which is bad because I have loved ones in the house. WTF is going on?

Thanks for all the help, assholes. Turns out that with some models this happens, which as a contractor I should have experience with as many baseboard heaters et cetera do the same thing when they are first being used. Expect scents for anywhere from a day to two weeks, as was my unfortunate case. I literally had to hold my breath every time I went through that room.

Sorry I was late but I was going to ask if it was new and if so let it break in and it should then be fine.
You say it smelt of nutes though?this happens all the time for me as the heat evaporates the nutes,heat off the actual lights.
Cover your nutes to stop evaporation.
