Nothing happening!

Well this is my first grow. I planted 2 seeds into some foxfarm ocean forest soil. I had planted then watered so the seeds sank quite a bit. I carefully moved some soil out of the way after I found out to water first. It has been 4 days and I have seen no growth. I have them in my home made humidity dome. The top of the soil is starting to get crusty dry. There is not much rain left on the dome when I check on them should I water the seeds? add some water to the pan to create more humidity? Should I just do nothing? I wont be able to relax till I know something is growing! :wall: When should I see some life? Help!

Should I just water it again? or put some in the pan so its like rain? I tried posting a pic but it doesnt seem to be working.

is the picture online already or is it on your computer?

if its on your computer go to "go advanced", click manage attachments(symbol of a paper clip) and upload from there

a picture would help, because im really not sure what your talking about but it does need to be moist to grow. why dont you try germinating a few seeds paper towel style?

You gotta keep 'em moist. Don't let the soil dry out. This will kill your seeds.

The wet paper towel works like a champ. I am still new but have not yet had success with germinating them in dirt.

I wet the towel and toss the seeds into it and put them in tuberware always does the trick. When I tried dirt they always sank too far. You may have some success with placing them on top, putting the paper towel on top of the seeds and keeping the papertowel damp and let the seed root find the dirt and dig itself in.

OK will keep it moist. I know I read here to let the dirt dry up abit to make the roots search for water... but maybe that was a clone and not seed. :wall:

that was probably for a strong well into it's life plant :) be gentle with baby plants.

i popped all 4 of my seeds into the soil to germinate, and all were out and above the surface (planted around 1 inch down) within 7 days. one was very slow to the extent that i, like you, thought it must have perished. it popped out a day or two later

That is for established plants, not when you are germinating seeds. The medium has to be kept moist, whether it's a paper towel, vermiculite, soil, or whatever. When you get a seed wet and then it dries out it almost always kills it. That is for any type of seed. After it sprouts you want the soil to dry out a little bit so the roots seek out water.

It's a horrible feeling, I germinated and transplanted into rockwool (doing hydro) and it still took a good 5-7 days... Just be patient and hopefully you'll get up one morning and check on them to see some beautiful baby seedlings!
