Not sure whats going on

So I'm wondering if this is root rot or dye from the nutes, because I'm having some issues with this lady still and I can't figure it out nor have I seen this before. Random splotches of yellow, they are both in the same system using same water and the other lady is doing wonderful. They are both growing 1-2 inches per day at day 45 from seed. The one lady that's doing great has the BIGGEST fan leaves I've ever seen. Side note.. is that normal?
Temp-72.5
RH- 58%
VPD- 1.08 on average during day .95 during Nighy
Water temp- 66°F(water chiller)
PH-5.8
LED lights- 28 inches
PPM-750
EC-1.5

I'd go with dye from the nutes though I'd expect to see a gradation of color, with the older roots being darker.

The factors that weigh against it being a root rot issue - 66° is quite chilly (I keep mine at 68°) and, if you had root rot the roots would feel slimy to the touch and, if I'm not mistaken, there's a distinct odor, as well. Even with 68°, I use Hydroguard. Root rot can be devastating so I've decided to go with "better safe and sorry".

"big fans leaves" - just how the plant is growing.

Good that you're tracking VPD. It takes some extra work to keep things in range but I'm a firm believer that it helps.

Re. the yellow splotches - it looks like the start of interveinal chlorosis which is one of the symptoms of a magnesium deficiency. You might want to do a Google search on that and see if there are any other symptoms that match. I had that two grows ago (I'm on my fourth grow ATM). The symptoms that show up today are a result of a deficiency a few weeks back. For me, it hit in maybe week four and it was caused by a self-inflicted nutrient problem from the first few weeks of the grow. I remedied with a foliar spray of Epsom salts and corrected my nute mix.

Upon looking into Mag def. I don't think that's it. All of the growth at the bottom is unaffected it seems to be just the middle growth

Ah, OK. Glad you checked it out. Perhaps others will chime in with the right answer. There's a few different types of deficiency charts/guides so check out a few different ones until you nail it down.

Any odor from the roots or slimy feeling?

What nutes are you using?

Air movement? If you're not getting enough air movement, it can slow transpiration which slows nute uptake.

If you're following VPD, are you setting a leaf temperature offset? Per above, wrong temperature throws off VPD which throws off nutes.

Thermometer accurate? Per above.

No slime, I'm using hydroguard, with Cutting Edge solutions nutes. I run AC Infinity products (which I highly recommend) they are quite accurate for temps and RH and VPD so no issues there. Fan is AC Infinity as well, 10 settings and oscillation and can plug into my Controller. I am setting a -2 for the deficit. As far as I know everything is within PERFECT parameters. That's why I'm so confused. This is my 6th go at it but only my 1st hydro.

Sounds like my equipment list! I'm using an inline fan and a tent fan but not the oscillating one. Very pleased with the fans. Not cheap but money well spent. I'm also using the Controller 69 WiFi and it's a good product. Strange behavior happened for the second time in about two months, is that I had to delete the controller from the app and then add it again. I'm a programmer so I may be a little critical about that but, overall, great stuff.

Offset of -2 is pretty standard.

I agree about having things squared away - everything sounds good so what's going on?

Sorry I wasn't of much help but an Mg issue is eliminated and you've added some good background info that will be helpful for others.

Well you can compare the 2 plants if they have same color roots .both the same and one is healthy then its color from nutes
750ppm for me is too much but i never used your nutes soo maybe its okej.you do have yellowing of the tips of the top newer leafs one of signs of overfeeding

Healthy one has the same issue bottom right one leaf is showing same yellowing.
Not all strains can handle high ppm some like 500 some 1000 ...

I will try lowering the ppms and see it that helps.. thanks

Reduce some nutrients add more clean water.

give the those roots a trim as those roots near the bottom are bound and no longer in taking nutes.

mince you cut them down and get some good root growth you will notice a correction from those deficiencies.

maybe add another air stone or a stronger pump to really help move the water around and get some air in those roots.

I wouldnt cut roots.they look healthy just brown from nutes.
What does the water say each day when you check ppm.is it staying the same or rising?

I guess its just preferances.i like big root balls.its easy to check healthy smell the water if it smells rancid something is rotting if it smells normal you are all good

I'm really not trying to pick on you. You seem like a nice enough person. But you've been growing since at least 2016?

I trimmed roots 2 days ago. I have a 10 gallon system, running a commercial air pump at 1058GPH. And as of 10 minutes ago I lowered the ppm to 650. Once I went over my notes and records I realized that they were much happier sitting at around 650ppm 1.3 ec

“Less is more” in your case this quote is 100% accurate. I never push ppms especially if plants are looking great. I would give them some clean water just for a day so they can clean up some of that gunk and slime and go back to going turbo for you.

For those that disagree with root trimming... I get it.. totally understand.. but my 1st hand experience is that, trimming 1/3 of the root mass (which really only turns out to be the long wispys) helps in a couple different ways.. 1st is that it help keep my RDWC clean and unclogged. 2 is that it promotes more uniform root growth.. and 3.. well shit I really got nothing else lol I'm fried right now . All I can say is everytime I trim up the roots these ladies go ape shit and shoot up 3 inches over night
