Not a right

I hardly think any Governor is retarded..... and the ppl she governed sure liked her. I try not to be swayed by the big media hype. If that same amount of scrutiny and deception were aimed at ANY person .... the flaws would show.

Think Obama could stand up to that scrutiny? He basically got a pass, and is one of the reasons why we are in such deep doo doo economically and politically right now.

Woo, just look at that chart..... health care is incorporated into it in a general way. Think about the concept of a 45 year data chart which shows how badly growth slows when you increase the % of PUBLIC spending to the GDP (gross domestic product).

Do you not see the flaw? The most serious flaw? You will also see why the EU is never able to stand on its own two feet. You basically have no growth in your economies.

Now if WE follow the socialist way and the EU LOSES the dynamo which is the USA economy...... what will happen to you? Honestly....think about it. Your leaders sure have. They are very worried about what Obama is doing.....you should be too. You will all suffer if the USA starts to replicate the EU inefficient way of doing business and trade.

There's an old and true economic saying...... If the USA catches a cold, the world catches pneumonia.
So what happens if we catch pneumonia?

Honestly......think about it before you root for the USA to follow these horrific policies of inefficiency. Someone has to be actually pulling the apple cart Woo......we can't all ride in the back. Without the USA to do the heavy lifting and CONSUMING, you are all screwed....very.
You still think I am trying to convince you that an NHS style system is better, whereas all I have been doing is pointing out the positives. I dont believe in running something/someone down just based on figures alone. Figures and charts can be manipulated but personal experiences cannot. On the whole the NHS system, along with the ability to go private if you wish, works. Your system from what I can ascertain works for you and others in a comfortable financial position. I like to play the role of devils advocate and from the outside looking in I cant see why a combination of social and private health care wouldnt work. I have seen lots of figures, charts and read many reports, and the like, and the one thing that comes to the forefront of my mind all the time is the sheer cost of your current system and how it doesnt adequately look after all of your population. Yes, I know that the NHS has flaws and areas of great concern but it is a beloved institution in the UK with far more success stories than horror stories and far more supporters than haters.:joint:

I do see some positives in the NHS system...but the negatives are all in the wrong area. Americans like to have some control over their medical decisions..... it's more like a football huddle over here Woo. The patient is right in there helping to call the plays after all the options are laid out. The NHS jumps into the huddle and the patient is no longer there. That's what we are resisting. that's why the vast majority of Americans KNOW that health care is too expensive, BUT we still don't want to be pushed out of the huddle, and the decision making process.

Anyone in the NHS system basically has lost their say....... that doesn't wash in America..... it just doesn't.

By the way Woo.... I respect you.:peace:

I understand your point, I would like to add that in the past couple of years choice has grown in the NHS and you can choose which hospital (in your county) you can be treated at and also which method of treatment you would prefer. I had a carcrash in Feb and gained a whiplash injury, hernia and back injuries. I was told that my hernia would be sorted in the conventional way, anaesthetised, opened up, mesh place over hernia bla bla. Now I said to the consultant that I would prefer the local anasthetic and key hole surgery method to which they said ''oh, ok''. The point that you made is valid but my point is, if you want something in the NHS you have to ask for it, it wont always be given or even mentioned, but if you know whats available then you are better off.

We're getting there, but one problem....it's what IS available.... or perhaps...what is NOT available to NHS customers. This is where the USA shines albeit at greater individual cost, but we have MORE options and better technology than the EU. Most of the world's medical breakthroughs occur here in the states. yes, insurance can be expensive, but those costs can be brought down without handing it over to our wasteful govt. That's my main gripe. The private medical industry can be fixed, and not with all that much difficulty. This is nothing more than a power grab by our ever expanding govt. It is UNNEEDED. They are not the answer.

Besides Woo, hopefully not, but if you come down with a serious cancer......where you gonna go pal? Our whiz bang ahead of the pack cancer remedies will be a thing of the past.... If you truly get ill, the states is the place to be or go to.....very few can deny that.

It's in Woo's best interest that we DON'T go Public with our health care......

I'd still need it then.Because we make too much money for medicaid, and too little to pay for his insurance. We make 26k a year.:-|
Fair enough.

Health care is not a right.

Any dialogue on health care/insurance should be done at the state level.

Health care/insurance for all? Let's break that down:

All Illegal aliens? No.

All who can afford it but choose not to purchase it? No.

All who are otherwise eligible for an existing program but are not enrolled? No.

That just about covers the 46 million uninsured.

what... huh?

If you make too much, then perhaps you should take a budgeting course in order to help you prioritize your responsibilities.

He makes it, I stay home with my kids and take care of them. When my little one is old enough for school, I'll go back to work.I still won't make a ton of money.
Both of you together make 26k a year?
Huh?We pay our bills, if that's what you mean.We feed our kids, if that's what you mean.We don't buy things we can't afford, if that's what you mean.We just can't do those things if we're also paying 250 every pay period for family insurance.I'm not looking for pity, I'm just stating that not all people make as much money as others, and health insurance is well beyond their means.

250 per month sounds reasonable and manageable. Less than an 1/8th of your monthly income.

I am not trying to embarrass you, I am just speaking plainly. Try to find ways to reduce/remove monthly incurring bills. Especially ones that you do not have equity in. Obviously you need to eat. I know a coupon clipper who saves almost that much monthly. I don't want to go over your monthly expenses here... it is frankly none of my business. That is why I suggested taking a course... or spend a few days researching the web on how you can reduce your bills. It is amazing how much you can consolidate. I am not suggesting you don't take care of your bills or feed your kids... I am suggesting that health care is equally important. Living outside your means is much easier when you have such a small margin. It is one of the things that keeps people poor. Some people, no matter how much they make, will always spend to the limit of their capability. I was one of those people. It is impossible to save in that mentality. You tend to let go of "invisible" bills, where you do not see the fruits of your labor. I am not trying to be cold or offensive. I am trying to help. I feel I can because of MY experience. Once I stopped thinking that I was entitled to other peoples money, I found a lot more value in mine.

I understand you're trying to be helpful. But quite seriously...I'm the cheapest person you know.Frugal should be my middle name, and I'm rather proud of it.But with our bills, and yes, house payments, car and house insurance, lot rent and electricity ARE necessities, and so is food. And that about takes care of the monthly money.I don't feel I'm "entitled" to other people's money.I just feel that 500 dollars a month is too much for health care.(he gets paid every two weeks, it's 250 per pay period.)Period.And that we should have to pay anything near that is preposterous. It's not the uninsured who are at fault. It's the insurance companies that would make us choose between health premiums and toilet paper.:peace:

Most Alaskans do NOT support Palin. Even I heard the collective cheer from that state after she quit. Hell, the Russians had thought a bomb went off. But if you say so - we all know you like to speak for large populations.

Thus far, you've talked to all Iraqis about their stance on war and now, you speak for the whole population of Alaska. You sure do travel a lot.

Palin's approval rating in Alaska HAS dropped since she resigned. She's down from 82% to a paltry 68%.

For someone who continually takes issue with the credibility of others on this site, perhaps you should start doing a little fact checking of your own before posting ... SON. :blsmoke:

Oh no you didn't! I'm gonna play the psychoanalyst here and assume they only like her because of her looks.

What red-blooded, healthy male doesn't like her for her looks? :weed:
Well I personally don't find her attractive, but I understand that she does fit the beauty ideal.

As for Alaskan support, you may well be right. Most Alaskans may truly support her. Reports of her dislike spread rapidly throughout media outlets, but they may have been skewed. Didn't the Anchorage News publicly support Obama during the election? And I remember that they were a formidable impetus against her.

What's this 'research' thing you speak of? Do I have to read to do this 'research'? 'Cuz I ain't readin' nothin'! I go by my gut.

Besides, books are written the 'man' in an attempt to keep us down. While you're readin', the man is plotting how to kill you. I ain't gonna fall for yer tricks.

"MAY" have been skewed? That's the understatement of the decade.

The Main Stream Media is very much skewed to the left. Their anti-Palin bullshit started immediately after she gave her speech at the Republican convention. She struck fear into the hearts of every Progressive on the planet ... and continues to do so. Have you watched Bill Mahar lately? Honestly, that douche-bag won't let up on Palin.

American Pravda is alive and well and they will do anything to destroy Palin in print or on the boob-tube. Why? Because prior to Palin's convention speech, McCain was completely dead in the water. Hillary would have won if it weren't for Palin. Of course, the downside is, we got Obama instead of Hillary. Boo.
