hi, yeh i agree with qaws83 the amount off plants will outgrow the space in no time and there is alot of light escaping. but with cfl's the grow rate is alot slower than hps lights but you should end up with some buds with that

(I have a new cab now). Here is my custom ScrOG... Question, is the distance from CFL to the plant, a good distance? Also, I used 2 paper towels to hold the scrog net up; is it safe? I mean, is it a fire hazard? I know CFL's aren't to hot but I added foil tape to the top of the paper towel to reflect it away, not sure if it helps. Anyways hows it looking?
Also, I am glad a lot of you guys (the viewers) like the basic style of my design so far. I'm not sure if a post or two were real or just trying to advertise on my topic. Stay frosty.

Do you like the screen? It looks good; and it'll look better when it's covered in buds.

Loving the New Cab! The plant looks pretty good buddy, dont really see how the Scrog will benefit u at all in there but it looks good! Yea HPS grows faster, cost more to run though and when u Veg ur plant with CFL's it will grow almost as fast, but ur flowering does slow down. Glad u got a female buddy! woulda sucked to have grown all those and only had those hermie/males

Thanks man! I always see people on this site with pro looking scrogs and setups, it's nice to hear I made something decent heh.
I wish I didn't have to use it in such a big space but the main stem outgrew everything height wise, so I wanted to keep it level for optimized light. I noticed I have some nutrient issues, and I'm currently studying in my off time about it. I'll be ready next time. This is just a trial first time run. I'm impressed though of how fun it is to do horticulture; I would like to grow roses at some point too.

Hello! Thank you everyone for checking out the topic and posting! The temps range from 68 with lights off and 76 with lights on. I have 2 intake and 2 exhaust so its pretty cold compared to other cabinets. I still need to light proof the door which I will do this week. I'm also in the process of renovating my basement so it works out. Also on a side note, I have my cab in a closed door room so even though the cabs not light proof, it is complete darkness in the one room.I'm really debaiting going hydro or dwc but since this is my first grow, I'm not sure id be ready. My biggest weak point which I'm working on is keeping the ph a constant 6.3. When I first started I had little knowledge about perlite and soil. I knew to buy indoor soil, perlite and verm. I used a ratio that I found consistantly said 25% perlite, 15% verm and rest soil. Now that I know better, it should be closer to 5-7% perlite. The reason is for more resources in soil. Anyways, soil, hydro or dwc...

Nice temps!
Perlite is not as useful as many like to think, myself included. It has no internal water retention or cation exchange capacities. Worst of all, it floats; debunking the "it helps with drainage" argument. A suitable replacement for increasing drainage/water retention/CEC would be coco-fiber (chunky stuff; IE cropcircles coco discs), turface, or calcined DE (IE Napa Auto Parts #8822, Playball, or axis). Pumice is another good replacement for perlite.
I'm gonna stay out of the hydro vs soil debate.

I'd like to stick to soil but its very hard for me to keep the PH a solid 6.3. I have the PH strips (ph testing kit isn't available here that I've seen), I analyze the PH of the water than get a soil sample, mix the water and record that PH as well. I than try to blindly find the PH of the soil. I *think* the PH is too high. I tried adding some lemon concentrate juice and water, tried flushing and now waiting. I wish I were more experienced with PH and such.
Another issue I need to correct is nutrients. I have an idea of nutrients needed but its hard finding good nutes around here. I'm interested in organic household items such as fireplace ash, saw dust, and anything around the house that would be of value. Also, I need to lightproof like I mentioned. Maybe some weather strips.

If you don't mind some candor, it sounds like you're overcomplicating things. Water's PH is important when the source of plant nutrition is synthetic, IE: dwc/hydro. In this case, you need a PH meter.
If you're looking towards organics, the best place to balance your PH is in the soil - 2 TBS Pulverized lime per gallon (1 Cup per Cubic Foot) of soil mix. Since you're mixing up some soil anyway, run to lowes/home depot and pick up some BioTone Starter Plus. This contains the necessary micro-organisms for organic gardening as well as quality vegetative nutrition. Mix at 1/2-1 Cup per cubic foot of soil mix.
Goodbye PH problems.

Thank you! I will check when I get a chance. Here is my current girl. I've flushed her yesterday and added small amount of lemon conentrate and a small amount of nitro fert because I thought I saw some def. If you notice the plants still have a burn, but my mag def went away it appears.
I've noticed about 6-9 bud sites. Isn't this a bad thing? I notice people usually cut them and grow 2-3 main colas. Should I be just growing 2-3 of the top main growth or do I let them all grow? I LSTed during veg and a bit of flowering.
I believe this is the age:
Seed planted: November 28, 2011.
Veg: Dec 1, 2011 - Dec 29, 2011
Flower: Dec 30 - still in flower.
Any idea on the plants health? Will she survive? Should I keep all bud sites? Any ideas on how much I could possibly obtain from her?
