Hey everybody, so i haven't really received any posts for my grow journal so i think i may take it here where people know more about CFL grows anyways. i germd 11 seeds about a week ago and 9 made it, although i still put the other 2 in soil to make sure. Its northern lights and i really hope i get at least half females, i want to start cloning as soon as i can. ANY help is appreciated, people. So lets enjoy the grow, eh?

first question, how much do you think i should water them right now, ive just been spraying every 5-6 hours..

:leaf::leaf: Wow 9 nice plants going to be a pretty big CFL grow. Your going to need alot of light to sustain that many plants. I don't recomment CFL's in this instance because with the amount of CFL's your going to have to purchase you could spend the same or less on a little 150 Watt HPS system. When you use too many CFL's you get alot of heat and then you have to worry about placing all of the lights in a good enough position for the plants to get the most out of them. Not to say that i can't be done. Anyways if you plan on posting pictures ill definatly watch the grow nonetheless im very interested because im planning on growing NL with CFL's very soon. Make sure you water them until a little bit comes out of the drainaige holes. If the leaves are drooping ALOT then they are overwatered, and if they are drooping a little then chances are they are underwatered. :leaf::leaf:

well they are just sprouting today so there really isnt drooping at all, no news is good news..i hope. actually its 10 now, a poked around the cup that i thought lost a seed and there was a little seed already sprouting under some dirt. sothis 150 hps system, heatwise, is that better or worse than 12 cfls? or should i just use it for flower? i really appreciate your help, havent been able to get any.

So today is Day 1 for veg. 6 have risen well above the soil but there are a few laggers who just have the shell on the surface still. think they will make it? and i may have forgotten to mention that i want to do a Sog grow, which is why i think the cfls may be a better, or more practical option i should say. i think i may leave the lights on 20/4.

here are some pics of some that spouted.

Sometimes you just have to let out a shout in the CFL section to get our attention to your journal!

hey everybody, so most of the seedlings are above ground (yay!) and i think we are looking at 8 plants. although one is struggling. so i guess that is a satisfying result. i just watered them again today. hope its a good amount, it was just a couple tablepoons for each really. the temps are staying good. i have the lights on a 20/4 schedule although i slipped up an hour today, i need to get a timer. they can get to 83 around the afternoon so i turn the lights off at 3 yesterday and i turned them off today at 4, so they will come back on at 8. and it gets to 74 in the morning and late at night. Thinking about ordering some nutes online, probably fox farms, i have to see what all the gripe is about. Here are a couple pics.

Hey, I cant see the pics...

Also, what's up with the 20/4? I haven't heard of that.

the 150 hps is easy to cool just like 12 cfls..im using a 400 watt hps with a regular reflector right now but i will soon get cooltube for it so i can maximize the light in my closet..I would say a 150 hps is better than 10 or more cfls..

hmmm thats odd, wonder if anyone else has the problem.

hmm, well i plan on keeping a female so i can clone, and since i have 8 plants now, and assume 4 are female, then i think 10 cfls may be fine. i think im staying with 12 though.

Sorry, i didnt know people weren't seeing it. I think i was reading it somewhere in the forums, people were talking about the plant growth for certain lighting periods. Some people veg 24/7 and then a lot more use the 18/6 period. so it kinda combines the too. im just experimenting. i figure they will grow bigger is all.

hey all, just a little update

well 7 have sprouted for sure. and one seed is at the top deciding if it wants to make me happy or not. temps are staying pretty good, stay around 75-80 and around 73 during night, while lights are still on. i turn them off at 4 pm for a 4 hour break, thats when its warmest inside the place (a little strategery). watered them a little yesterday, might not have been enough since i barely filled a red party cup all the way. comments?

PICS TOMORROW!!!!!

Lookin' good so far. It's awesome our kids are the same age!

I am going to subscribe to this thread since the other one is the wrong one.

How close are your lights to the top of the seedlings?

sweet, yea this one has twice as many views and its like 5 days newer haha. well the lights are off at the moment about to come back on in half an hour. but maybe 2 inches from the plant. why do you ask? do they look stretched?

That's my plan, to keep 1 fem. Hopefully one of my 5 is a female :/

LOL @ "strategery" :p

so here are two of may favorites so far, pretty leaves i think. i ordered the 3 pack fox farms fertilizer package the other day, so i hope it gets here before the 2nd week of veg. here are a few pics.
