In April 2011, North Carolina House Bill 577 was introduced to legalize medical cannabis. It passed it first reading and was sent to committee on 4/4/11. North Carolina is an important state on this issue. Being the first southern state should the bill be passed it can cause a sweeping effect across the the country in legalizing medical cannabis. Already Georgia is watching what will happen in North Carolina. Below is a link to follow the progress of House Bill 577. The only way this will pass is if the North Carolina voters let their Representatives know how they support this important issue. I hope we have everyone's support.

South Carolina won't follow. That's crazy. One of the last states to legalize interracial marriages despite it being federally legal. Yea, good luck with that one. NC stands a chance, but as always Medical is just a crutch, and as we seen with what happened in Cali this past Nov. too long under medical gets people to do stupid things.

Just look at it this way. The day SC legalizes any form of marijuana it would of been federally legal for some time prior.

I moved from GA to CO because I wanted out of the ass backward south and was tired of the nerve racking thoughts of my door crashing off the hinges concerning my closet grow. I've been to NC a few times and bought my truck in Asheville. That's a beautiful city, Asheville. From the NC MMJ bill I saw a while back, if it does pass it'll be good. The thing I remember about it was it went by square footage , the 1380 Bill said the garden could go up to 100 square feet, you can put a lot of plants in a 10x10 room and even grow monsters outdoor in that size.

I saw on another site that 1380 failed. But if they can pass a bill where things go by square footage instead of plant count limit, it will be so much better than a lot of the other MMJ states. Plant count limits are oppressive as hell, and have caused a lot of court cases for mmj growers in mmj states. I hope the NC legislators that are pro-mmj keep in mind that square footage will avoid a lot of problems for mmj growers. I know some people have the mindset of " I'll take anything, just let us become a mmj state", it's easier to do things right the first time than to have something pass that's so restrictive that people don't follow it and go beyond it's boundaries and the anti-mmj politicians have ammo against it and say " see, I told my fellow senators this was a bad idea".

If NC sticks with square footage in the mmj bill instead of the troublesome "plant count limits" , they will be ahead of most of the mmj states. A southeastern bible belt state with mmj, that'll be a sight .I can already picture the churches bitching about it every Sunday if it passes.
