Noob's 4 x 4 SCROG Grow Tent SetUp | How am I doin' ?

Hello, im planning in setting up a grow tent of 5 x 5 but use 4 x 4.

Im will use scrog method in soil. Could you tell me what size of pots and how many plants should I fit ?
im new here (of course, you already know that ;) ) so please ELI5...

I saw this Tent:

And these Vent, scrubber.. :

...

And I was wondering about if i should go with 1000w or 600w?

I like this kit, since has the ballast and both, MH and HPS:

Thanks for your help.

Greetings! You're gonna love scrog. It's really rewarding!

Ok, my first scrog was in a 4x4 tent using a 3x3 screen. It gave me room to squeeze in an oil radiator to keep 'night' temps up.
I had 6 plants of 2 varieties in there. You can do it with 1 or as many as you like, just alter veg time to suit. I used 11 liter (I think) poly pots which worked out fine for me. The root systems were not crowded at all. Perhaps if I had feed more effectively the roots would have developed more and the pots would have been too small? Meh. We're learning right?
Here's my screen just before 12/12

I used a 600w hps in parabolic hood, no heat issues. A 1000w in your 5x5 would be ideal, but a 600 would cover it if you're worried about over heating.
I wouldn't get too hung up on mh for veg, hps is fine. I had very tight plants under the hps, I just dimmed the bulb (digi ballast) for veg then hit em with 110% for flower. It's up to you though, the light spectrum of mh is 'better' for veg. I believe large scale commercial growers don't bother with switching bulbs for ease and don't suffer as a result.
As far as extracion goes, buy big and get a speed controller, maybe even one with a temp sensor. I had a cheap vents tt125 which is fine but louder than a larger unit slowed down would have been.
Hope some of that helps.

What are you planning to make your net out of?

Dude, you almost make me cum with those pics. Thanks a lot you dont know how much i appreciate your help. Love your information.
SO here i go. This is my final set up. Would you give it a look?

Im getting TechnaFlora's kit.
http://www.amazon.com/dp/B0032JWMFC/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_nS_ttl?_encoding=UTF8&colid=1IQMN8K0DCT1N&coliid=I2DTWCFVJBVOCZ

This tent:

These lights: (they come with 1000w MH and HPS so thats a plus and is air cooled)

Vent (fan + filter)

Some oscilating fans, hygrometer and all that.

Mmmm... regarding the material of the net, LHB's SCROG tutorial and as i can see you too use string so i might go for it. and the frame probly from pvc? Toxic? LOL or cheap wood but i would like something like pvc so it doesnt promote fungi etc...
Where i live low temps are a big deal. the whole years is about 18-26c°:)

I would also like to know if the 1000w light is going to be too expensive i mean, im kinda ignorant so im literraly scared that the bill raises suspiscous but i think im a little crazy since im just going to grow this tent

Do you believe that my setup is ok? anything you would change?!

what can you say. Also regarding your grow.
its beautiful, What size of pots do you use?

Id love to know everithing about your grow. you have a grow diary?
Thanks friend!

I would only say that there is debate about whether the glass in the cool tubes filters out usefull frequencies of light. I've found my parabolic with a fan pointed up into it to disperse heat very well. Just a thouht. Maybe search the forum on pros/cons of cool tubes

can't comment on your nute choice, I use various garden center generic brands, fish tank water and a seaweed tea.

I'm using 15 litre buckets this time with holes drilled, but 11 litre poly pots last time

I think your choice of tent/lights/fan looks fine overall.

If you want to trim the costs you could get away with just an hps. Again, I think cool tubes are more expensive than paras. A digi ballast is a good move.

This was my first indoor grow, and apart from the seedlings starting off in buggy soil and needing a transplant early it went ok. 10oz dry, and not too fluffy either.

I'd recommend 6 plants in your size, 8 if you're worried you might lose I couple. That was my thinking. I've got 8 under my 4x4 screen, cos that's how many clones I took. You could fill it with 1, but it'll take ages.

I posted in the scrog club thread, you can see more pics there. No diary though. I'm too inconsistant!

Oh, does the tent give you 360° access? When trimming the under canopy that can be very helpful

Yeah i thonk im going with this light set up:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005HB1ICQ/ref=ox_sc_act_title_3?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER
Cheaper and i think itll be ok with a couple of fans inside the tent plus a the Extraction Fan working at a 75%?

Also i think i cant access it 360° damn...

What to you say if i mount a plataform on wheels and make the scrog circular so i can work it and rotate easily? Not worth it?

mmm i think ill go with6 babies. hopefully Sour Diesel Clones lol. :)

The rotating scrogg could work, but I've never seen it done and that might be telling...
My tent opens on all 4 sides, but I find it enough to open 3 for watering/maintenance. My old tent opened on 3 sides but the zios were shitty. The Roof Qube I use now is much better for that.
Raising the pots up a bit would be a good idea actually. Once the screen is on you can't get a plant out of the tent if you need to flush it out after accidental over feeding. I had to pull up a floorboard and siphon water from the overflow tray into the room below. Not ideal. If the plants were raised 6 inches you could save that hassle!

Forgot to mention screen last time. My first was wood, staples and string. Cheap and easy. String can snap, wood could develop mould, but cheap and easy.
A better job would be pvc pipe and stiff plastic garden mesh, but I went wood and better twine for this run.

maybe consider this reflector too, or something simelar. A scrog would benefit from the most even spread of light possible, and I believe this may do the job better than a dutch barn type

Yeah so I went crazy and got this one on amazon: Is nice, it has quite big openings so i dont have to rip the whole zip off. : http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00H9O6UJ0/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
It seems nice. what you say? :)
----

also got this one with just the HPS 1000w

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00EV5Z6CW/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i01?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Dimmable, Digital, internal fan.

and also not air cooled. :) i believe that it wont be a problem, heat. I plan to use 2 20".

I could take a look at the link you posted, it was broken.

Whats your current grow? is it scrog?

oh, yes, i plan to keep em a bit higher. what would you recomend considering the tent is like 79-80"?

Have you tried Driplines? or should convetional be ok ?

Greetings as soon as get the whole thangs in about a month il be posting showing you my progress if you like

Looks like you got some good stuff coming. Nice one!

Yeah I'm scrogging 8 clones I took from my last run. Upsized my screen to fill the tent. No room for a heater now but the ambiant temps are way up on a couple of months ago.
This is only my second scrog, so there are still things I'm learning as I go.
I fed a large ouside grow with drip lines (well t-tape) but for this I've got a 2 litre watering can with a flexible pipe and small shower head from a 'solar shower'. Lets you water the furthest pkants from the front of the tent bu poking the hose through the screen. 2 litres per plant has worked out pretty well. Definately recommend a hose on the can, too

There are a couple of scrogg threads in the advanced section. I post in the scrogg club cos it's the quieter of the 2. posts can get lost in the fast moving threads sometimes. Both are worth a read. Start at the beginning and read as much as you can handle!
