Noob Questions

Hello

Long time lurker, new member. I was reading around alot, getting prepared for my first grow. I just had two questions that I needed to ask because I couldn't find them posted here. I plan on growing indoors with soil and I was wondering:

When I flush the plant, I've read that it is supposed to be done for a week, 2 weeks prior to harvest, with 3 times the amount of water that the plant container can hold.So if I'm using a 15 liter container, that's 45 liters of water. Should I divide that through out the 7 days? or every 2 days?

Also, Is flushing the soil and roots all that is necessary in order to take the fertilizer and nutrients out of the plant and buds? With all that fertilizer being sprayed on through out the life of the plant, won't that mean harsh smoke when you smoke the buds? Or will the fertilizer that was sprayed on the plants be flushed out with the flush of the soil and roots? That seems to be confusing me.

Sorry if these are newbie questions, just trying to soak up all I can before I start growing. Thanks a lot.

Hey there! and welcome!

When you flush the soill.. you use 3 times the ammount of pot of soil.. so for example.. like you said.. 15 litres pot = 45 litres of water.. do this 3 times all at once. you do it ONCE. After you do this... the soil and any remaining water in the soil has become clean of any nutes... so the plant has no more nutes to feed on.. it starts to feed on its self.. on its stored nutes. and all it drinks is fresh nuetral water. You do this because to much nutes before you harvest give you too much of a chemical taste. you want the taste of natural bud the only way you can get this is if the plant uses natural nutes from its own leaves where it stored nutes it needed. this is why the plants leaves yellow at the last couple of days. it sucks all the life it has to give you the best bud it can..

Hope this makes sense..

sorry for the long one.

Yyou can get away with doing 1 and a half... look at it as if you want to clean the soil completly... nothing really systematic about it.

if you can use ph 7.0 RO water if you can get access to it.. that would be perfect!!

Goodluck!!
